"Located a street or two off the main shopping/dining street in Queens Quarter (Botanic Ave) this small cafe serves breakfast and lunch in an urban rustic, laid back atmosphere. It's hours are not conducive to 9 5ers as it first opens at 10am (closing at 4pm). The menu changes daily and is limited. Everything is fresh and prepared with care. Tuesday and Friday there is an enthusiastic and personable Thai chef (Prin) who prepares Thai specialties for lunch (served 12 2). I arrived just after 10 and had a delicious smashed avocado on sourdough bread topped with tomatoes, crumbled feta cheese and black pepper very tasty and filling. Coffee is quite good bold! Staff is friendly and professional. Note, this is an all volunteer staff. All profits go to charity. There is an optional pay it forward described on the chalkboard over the main counter I really liked this idea."

My wife and I stopped by for coffee and a delicious cinnamon scone. The service was great and they have free Wi-fi available. The only downside was trying to find a parking spot.

I adored Common Grounds - it was my go-to spot for lunch and perfect for entertaining guests. Unfortunately, it has recently closed down. You can visit their Facebook page for more information.

Today I had the best coffee I’ve ever tasted and if that wasn’t enough, the staff of common grounds were all the most wonderful people who will go out of their way to ensure you have the best possible experience while you visit. It is clear to see the love that the staff have for this café, as soon as you enter you can almost feel the happy vibes that radiate from each member of staff. The yum bowl is precise in its name as it is YUMMY, definitely recommend trying it!! I can’t wait for my next visit to common grounds (which will be very soon) for another great experience.

This café was so good I went back instead of trying a new place when I was in Belfast! They had a very nice sweet potato and coconut soup with bread for 4.95, and a yum bowl for 5.95. The yum bowl was vegetarian and very filling I didn't have dinner that night. (Ask the staff about it if you go! They also had quite generously portioned tray bakes for 1.95 that you can check out when you go in the door! They have a lovely system in place of paying forward a cup of coffee/tea or a bowl of soup for someone in need, if you wish to do so. If you would like to buy somebody a coffee or soup, just let them know when you pay your bill.

After a long night of travel without much sleep, we arrived at our hotel in Belfast and were directed to this restaurant for a quick bite before exploring the city. Initially, the staff behind the counter seemed a bit unfriendly and unhelpful, perhaps due to our unfamiliarity with the local cuisine. However, we quickly moved past that and enjoyed some coffee and snacks to hold us over until dinner. The restaurant offers a selection of prepared sandwiches and pastries in the counter window, and they are willing to heat up items upon request. The grilled cheese was delicious, and the muffins were a hit with our group. Additionally, they offer a local coffee that was well-received by members of...

"enjoyed our evening in james st it was the best culinary experience of our trip! we had been happy to see this evening as we had a few hit-N-seals in the course of our trip to belfast. we were not disappointed and had the fabulous evening. we were quickly welcomed and sitting. the place is beautiful and spacious. revitalized and environment. the bar is great and would like to come back, only for drinks at the bar sometime. we ordered cocktails immediately. an Irish gin negroni and a traditional old fashion. my neger was absolutely excellent. I think the old fashion could have been done with real sugar cubes and not sugar syrup, but it wasn't too bad. we were quick to choose our wein. we chose a beautiful juicy red, the cline, the old vine zinfandel, 2019. to begin we had the ham hock terrine with piccalilli champ bread and some scallops with boar bell. the hanging-hock court was the best ham-hock I had. the homemade piccalilli was something else. really nice crispy and sharp sharp to help cut through the hammock and the champbrot was delicious crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. the scallops and black bells were disappointing, as they lacked no salt or genuine aroma or texture between them. we still ate it and shared the rest of my hammock. we both decided to go for the co. tyrone 270g fillet steak with sides of champ and truffle parmesan chips. red wine and pfeffer sauce. they were fantastic steaks. Actually, I didn't think I would finish mine, but I did. I have met the right choice with the jus and the truffle chips. they went so well together, the dryness of the parmesan and sweet, slightly greasy of the jus. the steaks were perfectly cooked. a medium and my medium rare. fantastic aroma on the grilled outside of the steak and beautiful texture when they pierce. we both agreed that the champ was the best champ we ever cost. it was hot, soft, so well aromatized with hot butter on the top of the copper serving pot melt. it was really the most incredible champ. I was too full of dessert. but my sample ordered the sticky toffee pudding sundae. the team was friendly enough to make me an espresso martini that was both decaf and not a sugar syrup. it was brilliant. we both managed to work our way, although a surprisingly light sticky toast desserts on Sunday. the team was fantastic. very friendly and chatting to us. the bar team did not stop, I had the pleasure of standing and watching them make a great selection of drinks and cocktails. the waiting staff were also very friendly when they check in with us at comfortable places to ensure that we were in order. we felt very well looked around. the service was very good, we didn't feel any hurry, it felt like such a free time in this restaurant. when we come back to belfast, we will be back in absolute terms and we will definitely recommend others. Thank you."
