"Fish and chips in the bar were spot on,lightly battered white haddock, crunchy brown chips and mushy peas. The meal was absolutely fine,my problem was the price of the drinks.Does anybody think charging £4.10p for non alcoholic cider is a good idea.Come on..really...don't pub landlords think they should be encouraging drivers to stay legal. My pint of 5% bitter was 30p cheaper.I know for a fact I can buy 12 bottles of the Old Mout cider in question for £18.99,Thats about £1.58p a bottle and I'm pretty sure bought in bulk the pubs get it a deal cheaper. So why not encourage nominated drivers to stay legal by charging a reasonable price.I feel like I've been mugged and won't be going back any time soon."

Great pub, food quality good for pub fare and being able to order from your table via ember pubs app makes it very easy.

Unfortunately we were extremely disappointed overall. The service was very slow. A member of staff even admitted they were out all last night and feeling it this morning. Okay great because that's professional? The meal was just tasteless with questionable meat. The tables were dirty. The toilet facilities were dated and the entire place could do with a refit. I could go on...

Dropped in on Saturday lunchtime to try and book a table for Sunday lunch at short notice, no problem. Stopped for an excellent lunch as well. Sunday lunch inside with a dog, again, excellent (huge) meal. Having looked at a couple of other venues for lunch on Monday (and walked away), we again dropped into the C&A, for a light lunch which was ample. Can't fault the staff, or service, and locals were friendly too.

After having a great Sunday lunch at this restaurant before, we were disappointed with our recent visit. The drinks we wanted were not available and the portions of our meals were not very generous. The Korma only had half a dozen chicken pieces and no chutney, the scampi was small in portion, and the fish and chips seemed reheated. The cream was spray cream instead of the pouring kind. The only positive was the friendly service we received.

It was my friend's birthday and we wanted to go for lunch at a country pub, so we decided to come here. I called ahead to make sure they were still serving food, and to our delight they were. We were not disappointed. The steak pies were delicious, with generous portions of tender meat, served with vegetables, potatoes, and a flavorful gravy. The ladies in our group ordered haddock and scampi, and both were very pleased with their dishes. My sticky toffee pudding and custard was fantastic, as was the birthday boy's ice cream sundae. We savored several real ales and a bottle of red wine, making for a delightful lunch experience.

Came here for a family meal (6 adults) on a Tues evening in December. We were very impressed with the range of food on the menu (better than last time I think). The fish and chips was delicious and huge! Everybody enjoyed their food, and most were big portions (except the chicken satay). For me the only let down was the cider I just don't like the Cold River cider much, but I'm sure there are some who do. Note that if you have elderly members in the group who need chair arms to get up from a seat, the chairs in the restaurant don't have arms but in the other room there is one which does, so if you need that, ring up and book it!

I decided to have lunch at this restaurant and sat outside on a warm day. I ordered a sausage and onion baguette for myself, while my partner had the steak pie. I was very disappointed with the baguette as there was barely half a sausage in it. It was chopped up into small pieces, rather than a whole sausage cut in half. The predominant flavors were lettuce and fried onion, with the chips and coleslaw being decent. For the price of £9.95, I would have expected at least two sausages in the baguette. My partner had no issues with his steak pie, but we both found the drink prices to be quite high - £6.50 for a pint and a small Pepsi. We are unlikely to return to this restaurant.

"I've been in Horncastle on business twice once on a Monday, once on a Tuesday and both times found the town mostly closed for business in the evenings. This time, just as I was on the point of deciding people in Lincolnshire must have a tradition of fasting on a Tuesday evening, I came across The Bull. This attractive old coaching hotel looked inviting, and the staff offered me a friendly welcome. The warmly lit, high ceilinged interior of this Georgian inn was full of diners (Yes on a Tuesday! Take note, other restauranteurs of Horncastle) and the ambiance was convivial. The selection of beers behind the bar was good and the two pints I drank were tasty and well kept. I was presented with two bar menus, a separate burger menu and shown a fish menu and a steak menu on the wall. (I understand tapas is also available at weekends). Quite a choice! The bar menus largely consisted of what you might call traditional pub grub of the best kind. Within that massive choice, there must have been at least half a dozen dishes I was really tempted by but, eventually, I plumped for the cauliflower soup followed by the pork belly, mash, peas and apple gravy. Both courses were outstanding and extremely generous in size, especially the pork belly. My only disappointment was that I hadn't room in my distended belly to squeeze in a spotted dick for pudding! My bill, for such a large and excellent meal, was very modest. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner at The Bull and would definitely eat and/or drink there again."
