This was a slow and leisurely dinner with very good food and a wonderful location in a lively neighborhood. I especially enjoyed my gilthead fish.

The food was fantastic, the staff were lovely people, the atmosphere was great and the price was good. Our host was joyful and chatty and were were made to feel very welcome like old friends. A great place to eat.

Pretty mediocre food. The emblematic Coq au vin was chewy and dried. Minimalist room design, squeezed ambience, small tables placed tightly to each other. Table service was attentive. Price is fair. Overall impression of upscaled staff canteen. The hype around is obviously unfounded.

I initially thought this might be a pop up restaurant and was surprised it had been around a while. It is like someone’s dining room which isn’t a bad thing. The set price menu was tasty and reasonably priced. As far as I could understand...the theme of the restaurant is ‘ eat local’ . Wonderful. Shame they would only sell bottled water surely there is nothing more local than something that comes out of a tap. So that why it only rates

I took my girlfriend here for dinner after a recommendation from a friend and we were very impressed! The food was of a very high quality and tasted delicious with a course menu only costing Euro’s. The vibe although understated cool was not...snobby and our waitress was very warm and welcoming to a couple of foreigners here for the first time which was refreshing. I would suggest everyone wanting a cool, local vibe place with excellent food well priced...checks out this pace! View menu

Very nice location in the heart of Berlin. The menu for EUR is really good value for money (for international standards). The signature dish Coq au vin is tasty but not spectacular. Other selections from the constantly changing menu are very good.. in our case the fish was very well prepared. Service is friendly and quick but note that they won‘t bother you at the end of the meal (i.e. not rushing guests out), so you may have to be proactive and ask for the bill. All in all a very good experience.

Small bistro with indoor and outdoor seating areas. We easily booked via Open Table for a Friday night. The restaurant was busy although social distancing requirements were observed. We were seated inside, and had some nice pastis as an aperitif. From the small menu, we...chose the trout in aspic and potato porcini soup to start, both excellent dishes. An intermediate salad course is served with small red berries, lingons I think. A selection of dressings is offered to dress the salad yourself. We had the lamb with polenta for mains, also very good. For desserts we chose a creme custard, a nice end to the meal. We had a bottle of spatburgunder to go with food. Whilst looking for an affordable French restaurant in Berlin with outdoor seating, we came across Der Hahn ist Tot In the Prenzlauer Berg/Mitte area of Berlin, you will find a great number of very disappointing restaurants. And sometimes a gem. This is one of the...latter. Quirky and unpretentious, Der Hahn ist Tot offers friendly service, delicious food and reasonable prices. The standard is a set four-course menu with choices for starters and mains including one fish and one vegetarian), but you can also order these dishes by themselves if you don't want an entire menu.
