"Second real meal in cologne with my colleagues which was also random. Another Italian restaurant that was small but lucky enough we were able to get a spot. Starting off the ambiance was nice and warm with a very traditional Italian style decor. Oddly enough there was only one waiter and he was ripping it back and forth. He looked a little bit stressed but he was handling it quite well. There was a little bit of language barrier but for the most part he was nice and respectful to our ignorant asses. As for the food we ordered a few dishes to share. Appetizers that we picked were: Grilled octopus and salad delicious as the octopus was soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. Dressing was almost like a Thai sweet chili. Scallops with lentils well cooked scallops and the lentils were a nice addition. Tagliolini with porcini mushrooms pasta was a little bit undercooked but not bad. A tad on the oily side and a bit bland. Main courses Entrecote with salad well cooked meat with an arugula salad. Delicious Beef filet from Swiss cow again well cooked meat with mashed potatoes and chantarelles. Delicious Overall the experience was good and somewhere I would possibly return but not a high priority as it wasn't mind blowing. Service 4/5 ambiance 4/5 taste 4/5 value 4/5"

We had a delicious lunch : fresh swordfish carpaccio, penne with strips of beef and cherry tomatoes, superb pork cutlets ... and some wonderful wines; efficient service, nice decor definitely way better than most Italian eateries in Köln

Ego is a small restaurant but it has so much to offer. Enough choice for everyone, excellent food and wine at very reasonable prices. The owner/waiter is a lovely guy who has enough attention for everyone even though the restaurant was full. No stress, everything was possible. He made our evening even more special! View menu

The right decision! For what? To spend the dinner at this very italian place at the side street of the fame Ehrenstrasse of Cologne. We got Pulpo woooow as an appetizer 15 Eur but the portion is generous, Tafelspitz Barbarian Duck in Orange Sauce. Each for 20 €. The meat was awesome, the sauce is nice. To close this great dinner we ordered Choc Tart Panna Cotta! A fully recommendation!!!

Eating by myself as in Cologne on business. Friendly waiter. A few choices of vegetarian, went for the salad with goats cheese for starters. Came with lovely bread, olives and some kind of cream cheese. All I wanted for main course was a bowl of pasta with some fresh tomato sauce but no tomato sauce to be had, so ended up withsauted potatoes, aubergine and some pasta but it was swimming in oil so ate half. I did tell the waiter but he didn't seem to care -cshame

We had a wonderful dinner at Ego. The dining room is rather small and quiet. We had the warm goat cheese, the salmon tartar and the carpaccio as starters. For entrées we had the veal saltimbocca and the beef filet. Everything as very fresh and tasty. The wine list is very interesting. The 2012 Primitivo (Zinfandel) was specially good. Chocolate cakes as desserts were a great closure of our meal together with a glas of grappa on the house. The staff were very friendly and professional. A nice place in Cologne in a hip and trendy neighbourhood. The prices are average to high. View menu

We had a lovely meal here end October 2017 on my Birthday. The food was absolutely super and although I dojn;t eat Steak very often was one of the nicest I 've ever had. The service likewise was very good. My only (and slight) criticism is that as it is all open plan it can be noisy great atmosphere but perhaps not so perfect if you want a quiet romantic night out as there are no 'corners ' to hide in in the restaurant. One thing to note, it can be pricey, but if you join their membership scheme you get all kinds of offers do take andvatage of them, we used the BOGOF offer they send for your Birtrhday (valid for up to two weeks after it). A three course sirloin steak meal with a drink each f...

"In a 5-day stay in Cologne and as a lover of Indian cuisine, we had planned the Ginti. The visit took place on Monday to the beginning of noon. The reception was very friendly and cordial by the Lord of the House. The decor in Ginti is very modern, stylish, but also somewhat sterile and only very discreet supplements with Indian accessories. Young guests will probably find favors in the style of the institution. The place was still empty and so there was a chance to get a brief conversation with the mistress of the house. She brought us the menus, and there were Papadam with three from a culinary point of view pretty boring finished dives. We chose both a mango sauce as a drink that was thin and most likely prepared on the basis of a mango powder. Disgusting! I ordered as main dish Malai Kofta, vegetable balls in a mild curry sauce with ginger, garlic, almonds and coconut. This is not only one of my favorite Indian dishes, but it is also a dish that places higher requirements on a kitchen and therefore cannot be found in any Indian restaurant on the menu. In addition, quality and freshness can be well valued with this bowl. I ordered this dish with a higher sharpness, but not through the sauce, but ultimately through the vegetable balls themselves. The latter were produced excellently and their loose inner composition had the freshness of the preparation felt. This was undoubtedly a 5-star court. My accompaniment had opted for Tandoori King Prawn Masala, marinated royal cloves from Tandoor in a sauce with tomatoes, cashew nuts and raisins. This dish was also very tasty, rather mild and very generous in the number of shrimps. The rice was served unfavorably on an open bowl and had to measure any fragrance and aroma that could originate from cardamom capsules or spice cloves. After the main dishes were convinced, we were curious about the Indian ice cream, Kulfi. This came visually well over a carrot cut into slices, but could not be along tasteful. It was crystallized, little creamy and the aromas of the aforementioned mango powder were reappeared. Conclusion: a highly recommended Indian restaurant due to the excellent main dishes, but not yet matured in its culinary periphery. Therefore, provisionally three stars with an inclination to four."
