"After ending up in France at very short notice, Bistrot 42 was just what was needed for two weary travellers...We'd originally thought that Bistrot 42 was closed on a Saturday night, so had disregarded it, despite it being our first choice. But our luck was in, and they were open because of the Roland Garros Tennis Tournament. So if you're unsure, it's worth giving it a try!We received a very warm welcome, and were handed English menus - Great. But then the owner appeared, took these away, handed us French menus, and said that he was going to talk us through the menu - even better! Just the sort of service that goes a long way.The food itself was very good. We each had three courses, that were each delicious in their own way. The selection of desserts are very impressive, with some pleasingly imaginative choices. Although mine was delicious, I got some serious plate-envy from my girlfriend's masterpiece! The bottle of white wine we chose was excellent, and complemented our meal beautifully.This is a great little restaurant, with exceptional service, and an ideal choice if you're staying at the Mercure Hotel in Porte de Saint-Cloud, which is literally a 30 second walk away - it sure beats room service!"

Small stylish restaurant we had the burger and a cote du rhone and I had a lemon tart which was delicious. Our waiter was very helpful.

My steak was good quality, and fries too. Salad that was served with it very fresh too. After asking a beer, the waiter found out there was none left and offered a free glass of wine instead. Friendly and polite service. Desert was good also.

You only know when you go in. No waaw factor on the outside, but inside, it's a treat. Nice welcome, friendly service, and most of all, good thing on your plate !!! Prices are perhaps just a little bit higher the elsewhere, but they are worth it.

Having arrived in Paris on Friday evening around 8.00 pm Bistrot 42 was pointed out to us as somewhere to eat, so after a quick refresh we headed over and we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and the service given - so much so that we went back the next evening.

Really friendly maitre d/waiter/manager - only saw one staff all night! But no matter, he was very friendly and seemed to enjoy my weak franglais. Was busy and popular in this mostly quiet residential area.Great fresh bread, Nice fresh food. All 3 of us were delighted with our meals, wine was good. Recommended.

We went for lunch here, we has entrees of Aubergine and Cappricio of boeuf both just fabulous. Mains or Plats of Poulet and Crispy Crevettes so fresh, beautifully cooked no fuss or ceremony just a delight! Comfortable surroundings .... delightful... We are locals but one of the nicest meals and ambiance we have enjoyed in Paris.... We plan to return... a well kept secret....

We popped in for lunch with limited time to spare as we were about to head for home at the end of our short stay at the Mercure Hotel nearby. The food was excellent and despite being tremendously busy, they served us speedily, giving us time to enjoy the experience. Lovely staff. The only suggestion I would make is a little ventilation - it was packed and very hot and a bit stuffy.

I stopped in for a quick lunch as I was staying in the nearby Mercure. Everything was great. Without asking I was offered an English menu by the waiter (who was rushed off his feet yet doing a great job!), I was given a table immediately, my order was taken promptly and the food arrived quickly. The food itself was lovely; the chicken supreme was cooked beautifully and tasted great. It arrived quickly, which is sometimes a worry and strikes fear of dry meat cooked well in advance, but this was very good indeed. It got busier and busier over the lunchtime I visited and was full of locals from the nearby business area, which is always a good sign for a restaurant like this.

After strolling around the neighbourhood of the Mercure Hotel, we ended up popping in to Bistrot 42 for a glass of wine as we thought it was a wine bar. Realising shortly this was a restaurant, we decided to have dinner, which is a decision that we are beyond happy we made. The restaurant was rather empty as this was the 29th of December, but the waiter went out of his way to recommend both wine and food. We both chose the Sea Bass which I can honestly say was one of the nicest prepared seafood meals I have had. Simple, with vegetables and potatoes, but perfectly cooked and served with a nice oaky Chardonnay. Finishing with a perfectly executed creme brûlée to top off the experience . Overal...
