"My wife and I went to to fox and hounds for lunch today. I ordered katsu curry and Lin had her meal from the senior menu she had the chicken strip starter followed by a Hunters chicken, he remarked how good it was. My katsu curry sauce at first tasted mild, A bit like a Chinese curry sauce but once I mixed in the chilli peppers and the spring onions into it the flavour became excellent for me. It had a nice heat and then spring onions gave it a freshness we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals we was served by the very efficient Sam with a smile. My meal was washed down with two excellent pints of crystal clear real Ale, the whole place was spotlessly clean, we sent our compliments to the chef which turned out to be the new manageress Marie who seems to be making her mark on the place. Thanks again Sam for looking after us today we hope to visit again soon."

My daughter and I went in for lunch today and we were made most welcome the food was a really good and good sized portions. The children menu had plenty to offer and a good meal deal too! Thank you to the two Grace’s behind the bar who really did make my little girls day by looking after us so well will bringing the rest of the family with us next time Kid-friendliness: My daughter was made made to feel very welcome and the children’s menu has a great selection to choose from. My daughter recommends the chocolate brownie for pudding

more decent place, for the first time visit and received a warm welcome from the personal. menu is quite significant. I went for the southern fried chickenburger. loved the ananas and blossomed jalapeño (although they were not hot at all). good choice of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. very large beer garden from the back, but right next to the road, which could turn some off. in the interior there is a series of sofas, tables with benches and sockeln with high sitting, so good selection. cross-section of drinks and diners also. this pub is definitely worth a visit, it found a nice place to relax for a few hours. Took my daughter here for her bday today. First they had no ice, then no glasses, no cold bottled cider. Ordered our meals and told they had no onion rings not an issue for us). Meals finally arrived with no salad and there should have been salad on the plates. No Tartar sauce with the scampi. I have no idea why they cannot get it right in this pub. We have given them so many chances to improve. The excuse was the delivery didn't arrive yesterday. No excuse as far as I'm concerned. Sainsburys is directly opposite. We did complain and got a meal off our bill. I would much rather have had a nice meal with our daughter for her bday. I have tried to email you as requested but it isn't going thro...

"Our first visit. We cannot praise thank The Wellie highly enough. What a find! Peacefully rural on a quiet road to the south of Baughurst. A classic, pretty country pub, now converted to an excellent restaurant, with three rooms. What strikes you first is how immaculate The Wellie is, inside and out. The large garden is a delight. Masses of dahlias and all manner of bushes and plants. Birds, birds and more birds. Do check out the vegetable garden beyond the rear car park. You then walk inside to the warmest of relaxed welcomes from the owners, Simon and Jason, and manager, Sheila, and their lovely young helpers. Nothing is too much trouble. The first thing you’ll spot is the array of fruit, veg salad for sale by the pub bar – the Wellie Deli. Along with home made jams, chutneys, quiches, etc. I then spotted the two hand pumps! Longdog Golden Poacher Basingstoke Pride. The seating inside is for diners every session is a sell out! But I was very happy to sup several excellent pints of well kept draught Basingstoke Pride in the garden – until I discovered their Negronis! Truly the best this side of Kwant (Piccadilly). We’d opted for the room in the pub: the Apartment. Two rooms on the first floor, knocked through. Enormous comfy bed, large rainfall shower, sofa, mini bar – two TVs! Free milk homemade shortbread. One of the discoveries we made here is the fabulous tea they serve from Prince Sons. As you can tell by now, we were very happy with our first stay at The Wellie… and then we went down for dinner! A truly exceptional menu from Jason’s kitchen, which changes each evening. Highlights were the scallops wrapped in pancetta, the pollack, the lamb pot pie, the twice baked cheese souffle, the NY cheesecake, the rhubarb ice cream, the treacle tart... All so fresh, tasty, and mainly from their garden. What we loved most was it was relaxed but fine dining without the tiny portions. The Full English breakfast the next morning was equally tasty. All in all, we did not want to go home! Thank you Simon, Jason Sheila. We will be back, soon."
