"Absolute horrendous place with unpleasant staff and owner! doesn't even know how to welcome people and smile... took a long time giving a table and gave us one right in the corner of the restaurant where the window is where people walk past and watch you! along with that there was no jug of water given at the table and no drinks offered! we was literally being forced to eat the buffet... when we wanted to have a table service order ... food was a disgrace no hygiene and no manners of staff! an absolute mood off and awful experience... it is not even worth rating the place as 1! that is how poor it was overall.... worst thing was the food arrived and the naan was cold and stiff not even able to pull it apart and the food had a hair in it... when telling the staff of the issue he did not even inform whether he was changing it or giving a new one or what.... took the entire dish and went away with no communication! Don't see this place lasting long! Avoid at all circumstances!"

Some of the best Indian food in Leicester truly enjoyed the food, have tried quite a few places but nothing has compared. Amazing chilli chips, lamb chops and really great prices. Hands down would recommend this place for anyone!

Excellent food quality, excellent service. They actually use their name very appropriately! Food is served on a Tawa (Indian Pakistani utensil used to cook food on). Amazing setting to simply relax and wind down with family friends. Definitely recommend it to others!

Food was really good. But the lady at the counter had no people skills. Plus she took the order for drinks and didn't get them until 30mins later. Plus we waited over an hour for food. There was about six people when we arrived so can't understand why it took so long.. will go again but will order food and go out shopping and come back 30 mins later..

The restaurant was absolutely stunning and the food was delicious. I highly recommend coming here to experience it for yourself. The staff was very friendly and the prices were affordable. This is definitely the best food I have had in a long time. The restaurant was immaculately clean inside and out. If you're looking for a great place to eat, this is it.

Visited this restaurant yesterday.Had not booked as was not aware we need to prebook (normally whenever we go leicester we just walk in to restaurants never had to prebook any). The staff were very polite and even though they were fully booked they still managed to give us a table. The food arrived within minutes after ordering and it was well cooked and tasted good. I would highly recommend this restaurant.Best place for a mixed grill!

I'm not sure if this restaurant has new management or chefs, but the Indian Tawa we ordered for four people was not up to the standard it used to be when it first opened. The portion size was smaller, with only a tiny amount of chips and just 2 nans offered. The chicken curry in the Tawa had thigh meat instead of breast meat, and the lamb curry was mostly bones with very little meat. You can find better value for your money at other places. My message to management would be to be more generous with portions and use higher quality meat. This would likely attract more customers. I won't be returning to this restaurant anytime soon.

This was mine and my family's first time at Gani's Tawa. We moved from Birmingham to Leicester twelve years ago and one thing we had found is that for Indian restaurants, Leicester was lagging far behind Brum. In the time we've lived here, I have to say this is the nicest food we've had in Leicester. We have three kids and they're quite fussy eaters but they all really enjoyed the food (we had a mixture of Indian and Chinese). On top of all that, prices were very reasonable, furniture and decor was nice and contemporary and the service couldn't be faulted. I don't normally write restaurant reviews but the experience was so good that I felt I should give credit where it's due- it's up there w...

We decided to dine at this restaurant based on a friend's recommendation. The restaurant was clean and pleasant inside and out. The service was friendly and courteous, enhancing our overall dining experience. After browsing the menu online, we opted for the Indian Non Veg Tawa for three people at £36. The food arrived promptly and was freshly cooked and delicious. Each dish was well-prepared and flavorful, making for an enjoyable meal. The chips and naan bread were also perfectly cooked. There was plenty of food for us, including a mix of starters and mains, making it a good value for the price. The highlight of our visit was the complimentary dessert we received, a kind gesture from the wai...

"Went here last night at the tail end of an office Christmas party and we stumbled (quite literally inside having been turned away at a restaurant next door. It was past closing though their OPEN sign was still on. Anyway! Although Oppa was just about to close, they took us in, a group of 6, and stayed open until we finished. When I realized we were in a Korean restaurant, I was so excited; I've been searching for a good Korean restaurant in the midlands. My colleagues were much less so as they had never had Korean food and were unfamiliar with everything on the menu. I ordered for everyone and despite some of them being difficult one colleague kept asking for samosas, aah! the service was faultless. Staff were super attentive and helpful, patient, friendly, good fun, and extremely accommodating. Just perfect! And they stayed open for us quite late without rushing us out, what more can you ask for? Ok, so the food. It was SO so good and I'm already planning to go back. The kimchi was bang on how I like (a big deciding factor for me strongly fermented/pickled and spicy, and fresh. All the bulgogi (marinated meat , dolsot bibimbap (sizzling rice bowl , jjigae (stew/ramen style soups , seafood and extras that were served tasted just like I had hoped they would. Presentation was great everything looked properly appetizing and vegetables and seafood, etc were all clean and fresh. I was too busy stuffing my face and enjoying the moment and company to take photos, but the few photos I've seen on here are true to life. Other things people might be interested in: This restaurant is kitted out to cook Korean BBQ at/in/on your table. It is spacious, with lots of tables and room to move around. Decor is tasteful and minimal. It is clean and indeed I was warned by staff when going upstairs to the ladies' to be careful as the stairs and the toilets had all just been cleaned (and clean they were! . If you're looking for good Korean food, look no further. If you're looking to try Korean food for the first time, this is a great place to start. Go for it! Might see you there, if I can help it :D [I've copied this review over from where I originally posted it because this listing and the one for OPPA in Leicester are the same exact restaurant, FYI]"
