"We were a group of four, and the restaurant was full. The acoustics meant that it was very noisy. My wife started with a green salad - fresh and with good dressing, but heaped on the plate in an unimaginative way. My seafood and orange risotto starter was excellent. The couple who accompanied us enjoyed their carpaccio. The two ladies and I ordered fish as the main dish, and here the problems started. My wife and I got our sole and - after a long wait - the potatoes to accompany them; the first serving of the fish was very tasty, the second was over-salted and starting to dry out. Our friend had to send his liver back to be drained, as it was swimming in butter, and his wife waited and waited... Finally she was told that her perch had been burned, and she'd have to wait for a new batch. That duly arrived - and was very good - and much later the tartar to accompany it, by which time the rest of us were almost finished. Two of us had small ice cream desserts, and all four mineral water and coffee. Our fish was accompanied by the very good local pinot grigio (Weiler Schlipf). My impression was of a fair restaurant on a bad day."

good food, reasonable prices, nice atmosphere, came on Wednesday evening, almost impossible to find a table, many Switzerland citizens come for a cost value meal.

Just over the German border, this Restaurant attracts the Basel Society since many years. The younger Generation has taken over recently and modernized the hotel and Restaurant, but Roland Hechler and his wife are still present and a very important part in the success.

Fantastic food.. Hidden Gem.. Went here for a special day and the place lived upto it's food. Had the krone menu (70 and my wife the Vegan menu, all locally sourced. The chef for sure knows his flavors well. Skip the local wine. The desert...was good but the food was a great fare. A must visit for a special occasion.

I arrived there just by case, looking for an hotel and a restaurant on the other side of the Swiss German border. Although I arrived at 9:30 pm, meaning late for a small city, they accepted to serve me a dinner which was nice. The room was spacious and nice in a dependance of this hotel. Last but not least, the breakfast was very good and especially the local maid jams. I can only advice this address.

We typically spent the Christmas/New Year in Weil with my parents. The typical holiday restaurant was Schwanen or Ott. As we could not get a table there this year, we decided to visit the Kronen. It was so far the best restaurant we have tried in Weil and Basel. The food was outstanding, the service excellent and relaxed at the same time, making the entire lunch a wonderful experience. We will be back, no matter whether there are table available at the Schwanen, Ott,

I can't owe Gasthaus Krone, I'm so glad we stayed here. The room was very large and comfortable with its own patio. Currently they are building a wellness center with pool which will be superb The restaurant was a real surprise the food was exceptional What really made the experience was the staff who couldn't do enough for us special mention to Antonia who made us so welcome made and helped us with our German Eine very special experience, which we hope to repeat in the future.

"Cheval Blanc is the ultimate classic French fine dining experience in Switzerland. We came here to celebrate my birthday while in Switzerland looking for a 3 Michelin stars experience. Located in the historical Grand Hotel Les Trois Rios. The riverside setting is charming and romantic. You start by a welcome drink at the terrace looking at the Rhine greeted by suited , polite and professional staff. The head chef Peter Knogl came to say hi before we moved to the main dining room and service started. The decor and interior is classy retro French with high ceilings, arches, classic chandeliers, large windows and round tables with candles. Ambience is warm and intimate. Service was top notch and impeccable. Staff were all knowledgeable with refreshing attention to details. Cuisine was modern french with Mediterranean influences, flavors were complex and dynamic. Ingredients were chosen carefully and courses were presented beautifully. I liked all of my courses, highlights of the menu were the Sardine Macaron, Langoustine curry, Red Mullet filet and the French saddle of lamb with mediterranean flavors. Wine pairing was excellent and enhanced every course taste and flavor. Sommelier was very professional and knowledgeable yet intimidating a bit. The French Cheese selections from Maître Antony in Ferrette was aromatic, rich and satisfying, Maître Antony is one of the best in the world that many Michelin starred Chefs get their fine cheeses selection from. The night ended well with a couple of delightful desserts courses, few delectable bites and some velvety chocolate. Overall, we had an elevated fine dining experience that will bring me back if in Basel again."
