We bought ice cream here on beautiful hot day, the flavours are great so much choice and price was very reasonable. The shop seems to do very well and be busy, but we were served very quickly.

The business has been in Cochem since 1896 so the are definitely doing gelato and German Eis properly. My wife wanted a spaghetti eis which was fantastic and I had an Aperol spritz so a little bit of Italy in Cochem.

There is even free Wi-Fi. The ice cream tastes really delicious and the service is very nice. Since they only have in summer, I write my experiences in winter. The location is very nice you can sit outside, on the terrace or inside. Everything is very nice View menu

Most ice-cream shops in Cochem close at 7.00pm but if you fancy one after your meal, this place stays open longer. Ice-cream is €1.10 a scoop and the server is generous with portions. You'll find it at the bottom end of the main shopping street...in Cochem just round the corner from the fountain.

The ice cream in the Bortolot is very delicious. There is a lot going on in the Sonmer during the high season. You can't get a seat despite many places... There is a very large selection of different types of ice. My favorite is Biscotto ice cream. The balls now cost 90 cents, but they are sufficiently large. In the past, there was always a Euro bullet, which today costs 1.20. We like to go there and make the ice taste. The Italian service is always very friendly.

"I read some reviews and heard from friends that this was thé place to eat in Cochem am Mosel, so we were very excited to find the restaurant near empty on our arrival as we had expected a wait. There was nobody to greet us as we walked in so after waiting politely waiting at the entrance for a bit we decided to seat ourselves awaiting the the host, waiter/waitress to come and greet us.It took another 5 minutes for the waitress to show up. As soon as she showed up she kindly requested us to move from the cozy booth-like spacious table to a smaller wooden table. Since the entire restaurant was empty, with the exception of one gentleman and it was about an hour before closing we did not see her point to keep the large table for non-guests so we kindly declined. The frauleins entire attitude changed and we could hear her screaming and yelling in the kitchen to the chef. She then proceeded to vent her grief to the other patron in German. One might imagine her surprise when I kindly informed her that I was able to understand her conversations ( I am Dutch so I understand the language ) and did not appreciate her treating us this way. Being used to American customer service I do lower my standards somewhat but to be told smack about a semi-professional in a small town restaurant in the middle of nowhere is not something I accept. We were looking forward to taste the local food but were quite frankly concerned that this would come with some non-sanitary condiments."
