"I read some reviews and heard from friends that this was thé place to eat in Cochem am Mosel, so we were very excited to find the restaurant near empty on our arrival as we had expected a wait. There was nobody to greet us as we walked in so after waiting politely waiting at the entrance for a bit we decided to seat ourselves awaiting the the host, waiter/waitress to come and greet us.It took another 5 minutes for the waitress to show up. As soon as she showed up she kindly requested us to move from the cozy booth-like spacious table to a smaller wooden table. Since the entire restaurant was empty, with the exception of one gentleman and it was about an hour before closing we did not see her point to keep the large table for non-guests so we kindly declined. The frauleins entire attitude changed and we could hear her screaming and yelling in the kitchen to the chef. She then proceeded to vent her grief to the other patron in German. One might imagine her surprise when I kindly informed her that I was able to understand her conversations ( I am Dutch so I understand the language ) and did not appreciate her treating us this way. Being used to American customer service I do lower my standards somewhat but to be told smack about a semi-professional in a small town restaurant in the middle of nowhere is not something I accept. We were looking forward to taste the local food but were quite frankly concerned that this would come with some non-sanitary condiments."

good German cuisine with a French sprinkling and some European dishes' not a massive menu selection, but a good coverage for all. Wines were about average prices for restaurants. Some nice on taps.

Great dinner, friendly and service-minded staff and a cosy atmosphere. A bit pricey compared to most other restaurants in Cochem, but for a reason. If quality is what you want for you dinner in Cochem, check out this restaurant!

German cuisine in a small cozy restaurant at a corner of the street. It was recommended by the guide from Reichsburg CochemFood was really delicious and it was a little pricey since it was a restaurant but it's worth a visit to try German food

Went here based on guide recommendation. He steered us right. Small place where all of the food is prepared in authentic ways. No English menu so be prepared to translate. Our party of 5 were all very pleased even though some us were not sure what we were ordering. View menu

It is wise to make a reservation for this place, the people were very friendly, the menu was pretty versatile (lacked some more fish menu's) The food was German old schoole, great taste and good portions. The interior is also old schoole (It's the same as it was many years ago) old but cosy

We, family of three including child 9 years enjoyed the very friendly hostess, the great building and atmosphere, but mostly the excellent food: salad and "kotelett vom landschwein" , tagesempfehlung "soup consome" and fish medallions and "kinderschnitzel" for our son. Small and quiet place that we can recommend to couples and families! When we visit the area again we'll definitely visit this restaurant again

This historical restaurant is now run by a young friendly couple. We were greeted at the door very warmly, and escorted to our seats. Front of house is friendly and knowledgeable. Atmosphere was cozy. It was snowing outside, and the historical decor of the inside and lighting made for a snuggly evening. The food was delicious, and portion size was good. The plates weren't over flowing with gluttonous amounts of food, which can sometimes be very unappealing. Great idea to put the menu in german AND english, as the area does see a lot of tourism.I would definitely recommend this place and best to make a reservation, as places can be limited. View menu

The restaurant has a distinct and lovely historic atmosphere. Unfortunately this remains the only positive aspect of the restaurant. The owner is ridiculously rude and disrespectful. My father (72 years) had a question about the preparation of one of the meals. The lady answered in a very harsh way, pointing out that everything he should know is mentioned in the menu. The roast potatoes were served cold and had to be returned to the kitchen. The aspic didnt taste as well and the ketchup was served in small plastic bags which is not appropriate to this kind of location - for my way of thinking. All in all not a nice place to spend your evening.

We were wandering around looking for a restaurant that could seat the 8 of us and took a chance. The restaurant was full except for a table that looked to hold 6 people but they were kind enough to offer it to us. It was a tight fit but very worth it.We let the waitress select our wine and both the red and white were very good and reasonably priced (20-25 euros). Our food was excellent, my schnitzel was perfect and everyone else raved about their meals. ( This may get repetitive, this is the first of 3 consecutive nights of really great dinners and therefore 3 great reviews).I am not sure what more to say, go there and order anything and I am sure that you will be very happy.9
