"Before lockdown we regularly visited the George for meals and were very impressed with the quality and value. We were therefore looking forward to a meal there this week before our visit to the Pavilion cinema. I'm sorry to say we were sadly disappointed. I ordered the Beef Madras which was ok but the poppadoms were soft and partly uncooked and the nan was like a piece of leather whereas on our previous visits they had been superb. My wife had the steak which previously came with peas, onion rings and a mushroom. This time she was served an overdone steak with just chips nothing else. So sad to see our local pub go downhill like this and it has put us off visiting again."

Lovely food, good service and good Covid protocols. The food we ordered was tasty, and it was delivered with a friendly smile. Can’t fault it, and will return in the future.

Just moved to the area. Decided to try Weatherspoons for Fish and chips in the garden . Was not disappointed. Staff friendly, food quickly served and delicious. Could be a regular event.

Food was surprisingly nice and good value for money too. Atmosphere really wasn’t a great one for family or children as some of the other ‘guests’ were quite loud and swearing quite a bit. Otherwise alright.

Dogs are not even allowed *OUTSIDE* the pub!!! Summer’s day, 10 mile walk along the Cuckoo Trail with friend and my 6 year old little Jack Russell. Stopped by for a drink. Found a table outside and ordered a pint before continuing with our walk....

I would like to thank the staff at this spoons because they where all friendly, had smiles on their faces. One of the kitchen staff I believe is part of management called Darren was very nice, cheerful when bringing out our meals. All bar staff was amazing, happy. The chain should be proud of the team at Hailsham and I would recommend folks to try the friendly pub. Me and my partner had a wonderful experience, Thanks Guys for a wonderful experience. "Honestly...one of the best pub restaurants I have ever visited! We chose to eat here as it was recommended via Alistair Sawday, and it did not disappoint. The food, atmosphere, hygiene and service were all 5* when we visited last night. We sat inside, by candlelight, and ordered 2 starters (the Rye smoked mackerel with buttercream sauce and the heritage tomato salad and 2 mains (the beef burger with fries and the hake with toasted ciabatta and garden peas . It was truly exquisite! We both cleaned our plates (and we don't usually do that! . My only mild criticism is that I didn't realise the hake dish would include bacon lardons they certainly added to the flavour, but as an ethical pescatarian, this could have ruined the meal for me (I didn't allow it to, but 10 years ago when I was more strict it may have upset me . I may have simply missed this ingredient when reading the menu, and I didn't make the waiting staff aware of my dietary preferences, so I accept this was my fault and not theirs. It's just something for other pescatarians reading this review to be aware of. I have absolute confidence that they would prepare the hake dish without the bacon lardons if you asked. As for me....my boyfriend gleefully took them from my plate and demolished them himself! We also enjoyed a medium glass of wine each my boyfriend (who is very particular loved the tempranillo and I had their Italian pinot grigio. Our entire meal would have been less than £60, but with the current government incentive scheme to eat in, it came to less than £40!! We tipped generously as they truly deserved it. We will 100% be returning and can't advocate them enough."
