"A fantastic lunch experience at Gidleigh Park. As you might expect the food was faultless and the setting is truly stunning. Upon arrival we were welcomed into the lounge area, with beautiful views of Dartmoor and Gidleigh 's babbling brook. This set the scene for an afternoon of traditional, opulent fine dining. Service was a little leisurely at times, but we concluded that this was part of the 'experience ', which is best savoured in a relaxed fashion and shouldn 't be judged by city standards."

Gidleigh Park Hotel, Chagford, Devon, TQ13 8HH Dont rely on Sat Nav to give you the right directions to this wonderful idyllic spot thankfully we arrived in the locality with half an hour to spare! Meal was wonderful particularly the dessert of mango mousse and rice pudding ice cream.

Amazing food, stunning location and fantastic service. We had a fantastic evening it was everything we'd expected. Nothing to fault. Great wine list, good cocktails and unusual disgestifs. Although it's quite formal we felt relaxed and our every whim was attended to. Can't wait to go back well worth the trip to the depths of Devon.

From the moment we arrived at Gidleigh Park Restaurant in Chagford, Devon it was a fantastic experience. The service was spot on; attentive without being obtrusive. The food (set lunch menu) was perfect with delicious extras. The surroundings were beautiful for a post lunch wander. I hope to return as soon as possible for the tasting menu! View menu

Gidleigh Park, Chagford is a country house hotel in a great location, beside the scenic river Teign. We had the 8-course lunch signature menu, which was expensive, but showed the wide range of exquisite food on offer. A cheaper option would be 2 courses from the fixed lunch menu, followed by coffee petits-fours. Skip dessert, because the petits-fours are substantial. Service is impeccable.

Gidleigh Park Hotel in Devon really is in the middle of nowhere and takes some finding, but it is certainly worth it! As it was lunch and we drove the consumption of wine was limited to a couple of glasses. Whilst extensive and of great quality the list was still a little on the pricey side making even the set lunch, with service, around £150 for two. Ideal for the occasional treat and we'll save up to stay over next time!

"Gidleigh Park is a country house located in a wooden wally in Devon. It is quite hard to reach the place on a very narrow road, which is very beautiful, but apparently during the winter larger cars can’t even get there. Gidleigh Park houses a two-Michelin star restaurant with Michael Caines as the main chef (the restaurant was recently voted number 1 restaurant in the UK by the Harden’s Sunday Times Food List 2014). Gidleigh Park also has bedrooms (apparently all individual in style and design) and you can stay there for the night and then wonder in the gardens of the estate, which I saw some people doing when I was there. I was visiting Devon and my boyfriend chose Gidleigh Park for lunch on a Sunday and we took the long and narrow road to Gidleigh Park. The inside of the house was very old and had a lot of charm. It had eclectic art and antiques and different style rooms, the lounge had different tables, chairs and the bar was done up in a completely different style. Gidleigh Park showcased British charm and elegance. You could chose to have their signature sample menu for £140/ person, but instead we went for the much cheaper version, their lunch set menu for £44/ person for 3 courses (you could also have 4 courses for £57). Also note choosing dishes a la carte would set you back £115, so the lunch menu seems like the cheapest way how to enjoy Gidleigh Park. We did not have any wine, but apparently thy have an amazing wine cellar. The three course lunch menu included a small appetizer, a starter and a main course and you could choose from one of the 3 starters and one of the 3 main courses. Our appetizer was “goat’s cheese foam with beetroot jelly, candied walnuts and granny smith apple”, but as my boyfriend does not like goats’ cheese he had a tuna tartar as his appetizer which actually looked better than my appetizer. I was not to"
