"Have been coming to Giovanni’s for years as a family. But the last few visits have been very disappointing. Came a month or so ago and found the service very poor nobody checking whether meal was okay or if we needed anything else. Brushed this off as a bad day for staff. Returned last week and won’t be returning. Ordered a child’s fish goujons for an elderly relative and these arrived so overcooked they were inedible. We sat with empty plates for 25 minutes before these were cleared and I said to the waitress about them being over cooked and she rather rudely said I should have said something and the chef ‘just makes them crispy’. When I explained that nobody came to check how the meal all I got was an eye roll. Very disappointing as it’s one of the only nice places to sit in and eat in Penicuik."

fantastic little bistro. always a warm welcome and eating is always top-class. service is fast and efficient. I would advise everyone to book a table, it is a very popular place, if they like a glass of wine/beer with their food, they must take themselves. I can recommend a visit here.

This place is a small italian restaurant. Has awesome tiramisu dessert on selective days, to die for soup of the day, moist and perfectly soft garlic bread, generously sprinkled salted chips, delightful pastas and great desserts of the day. Must visit this place if you enjoy a melow lunch with your friends and family as it's pocket friendly and worth every penny spent.

Perfect sized lunch. Great coffee. Great service.great price. Will definitely go again . This looks like a small place. The dark front and grey windows made it look shut from the car. A friend recommended it and they were right. It's not the place to impress customers at but it's the place to eat. We live in Penicuik and would never have tried it but for the recommendation. Thanks Giovanni and The Server, Dion, I think. We didn't try the soup, no room for pud. Loved it
