"We live near to the Castle Hotel and enjoy dropping in for a meal occasionally, however we have noticed that standards have dropped. Last night we had a meal, which was difficult to choose as the menu is pretty limited, my husband had the cod, which he couldn't finish as it was so greasy, and I had the chicken chasseur, which was so rubbery that my dog would have had a job chewing it, and he can eat anything. On a positive note, the tatws a caws side order was as lovely as ever. After our meals arrived via a sniffing waitress, we never saw her again (although we could hear her sniffing in the kitchen). At no point did anyone come to check to see if everything was ok, and in the end, we gave up waiting to order dessert and actually left the restaurant and sat in the bar, unnoticed. When we paid for our meal the waitress didn't ask if everything was ok, just took the cash, sniffed, and handed the change over (we didn't leave a tip as the service was pretty poor). It's such a shame as The Castle is a lovely, historic building which has served the people of Neath well for a few hundred years. A tip to the restaurant manager: go and have a meal in The Towers Hotel in Jersey Marine, to see how a restaurant is run properly with superb food and excellent waitressing."

Great food, reasonable priced but looks ala carte. Very relaxing with really 1st class service from the staff.

The food at this restaurant is excellent and served in a nice, casual setting. While reservations may not be necessary, it could be a good idea to make one just in case.

Treated to afternoon tea for my birthday on sat 2/7/16 with my daughters and granddaughter . What a disappointment ! Poorly presented ,sandwiches were dry ! Conclusion being they had been made a while , Cakes were cut in half and Shop Bought !! Would not recommend afternoon tea there

I went out for dinner with my husband in the evening. The menu was very limited and the portions were quite small for the price. The waitress and waiter were discussing the poor state of the building's electrics and how it was unsafe to go into the cellar, which I found inappropriate for a restaurant setting. Overall, I won't be returning to this establishment. View menu

This is Greens Restaurant at the Castle Hotel in Neath, South Wales. I'd eaten there many times in the past but had been neither amazed nor apalled nor driven to write a review. However I found myself back there recently and the menu has shrunk in size but has blossomed with choice. This is good local pub/restaurant cooking. Definitely a step up from where they used to be. Most certainly worth checking out.

Went to the greens restaurant today with a friend and my experience was horrible! We booked a table and told the waiter we had a table booked and he said yeah your table is over there! Didn 't show as to our table, he then came over and gave us our drinks and just stood there and stared at us, we then said what we wanted for food and he replied with okay go up there and get it! Very disappointed in the costumer service! He Didn 't smile or was not very polite! The food did not taste like it use to! The food used to be lovely there and today the gravy was like water and had no taste! The veg was horrible too! Very disappointed!!

I have visited the Castle Hotel a few times for Sunday lunch, but my last experience will be my final one. I ordered the Nut roast, which was extremely hard and lacked flavor. When I went to the counter to select my vegetables, I quickly glanced at the meat options, only to be rudely told by a very officious waitress with long fair hair that I couldn't have any because I was having the nut roast. I was shocked by her terrible attitude and felt embarrassed. I could only mutter to my friend about how rude she was. This waitress definitely needs to improve her customer service skills. In hindsight, I should have sent back the awful nut roast and requested something more appetizing for vegetaria... View menu

We arrived at Green's by a side door off the street, straight into the restaurant bypassing the main Bar and Entrance . So I went to the Bar to ask if they had space to have lunch. I was rudely told I could sit on any table that did not have reserved on it. And the same barman came with the drinks and shouted “Wine” and just banged it down on the table. The Service provided by the ladies during the meal was Excellent !!!The meals arrived and were average. My Mother had the fish and chips and she said it was good,My Wife had the Chicken Castell Nedd, every part of meal was over cooked.I had the Lasagna which was OK-ishThe price was meals were cheap but reflected this in the quality of the food...

My wife and I wanted somewhere warm to eat and found greens, as we walked in there were 4 full tables, two of them waiting to be seen, we sat down and had to take a menu from another table, 10 minutes later there was still nobody around to take our order, so I went to the bar and 3 members of staff were there just talking.Being cold from outside we were to hungry to complain so we ordered. 16 minutes later our shared 'platter ' arrived, it was meant to be a full welsh cured meat deli platter, that came with olives and branston pickle, not liking either, we asked for them to be left off. But alas the pickle was left on and the waitress said that the peppers were left off, so as we finished ou...
