"Peas and carrots a Sunday lunch does not make! An extra pound secured either a portion of cauliflower cheese or cabbage. I opted for cauliflower, which unfortunately was slightly grey with a watery sauce which possibly included cheese. As this portion was enough for 2/3 people, I would prefer to pay an extra pound for either a 2 or 3 course lunch which included a spoonful of cabbage and cauliflower. Also, as the room is smallish and square, the noise level was similar to a work's canteen. I'm really not one to complain, having been part of a large booking in La Mancha previously, the difference in accoustics made for a much pleasanter experience."

Lovely Sunday lunch, probably the nicest we had anywhere for some time. Staff very friendly. Great that under 12s eat free with paying adult.

Had a pre Christmas lunch with friends. Meal was ok nothing special. Have had better roast dinners at the sister hotel Blancos. The refurbishments to the public areas looks great but unfortunately it seems the food has not improved!

Worst meal I have not eaten in years, I literally didn't eat more than a couple of mouthfuls.I ordered curry. It had a burnt taste, the Poppadum's were greasy. The rice was Yuk.The Naan bread was cold ? How can anyone prepare, cook and serve food of such poor quality astounds me. The refurbishment looks great, but the awful quality of food means we will not be returning any time soon. View menu

We booked an evening meal at the Castle Hotel for our friends birthday, The Castle has been closed for a few weeks whilst an extensive make over has been carried out, The eating and drink areas have been refurbished and i think the Hotel has lost its character, gone is the story of where the WRU was started, the main bar just off the reception is a bare room, The restaurant is next to the reception and set out very well, The food was cooked very nice and we enjoyed our meals.the staff were very helpful.

We were having an evening out with friend's and we decided to book a table at greens restaurant, we had drinks in the bar first, this is a nice comfortable area for a drink and chat,.There weren't too many guest's so it was fairly guiet, we then went into the restaurant and also there weren't many eating, we ordered starters which were very nice, our mains of chicken wrapped in bacon and great chips, steak and chips, and fish and chips, all cooked to our tastes, everyone enjoyed, the meals are not expensive and very enjoyable.

My wife and I called to the castle hotel for an evening meal, when we walked into the restaurant it was quiet and plenty of tables, there was only 1 waitress serving, we ordered 1 cod and chips which was very good and chips were excellent and 1 hunters chicken which was also tasty but chicken seemed tough had to have a steak knife, the meal was very nice. But after a while the restaurant was filled up and the waitress was rushed off her feet to keep everyone happy, she needed help only person available was the barman who did help with drinks. My wife and I arranged a Christmas evening meal with friends at greens restaurant, the food was excellent, we had starters of fish cake with salad, and soup of the day, mains we had chicken castell nedd, a mixed grill, chicken dish off the specials board and gammon, all the food was very tasty and large portions, due to the excellent portions we were to full to order a sweet, in the corner of the restaurant was a very talented young man playing a guitar and singing various songs and he was very good, the restaurant was not very busy and was very nice atmosphere, a nice place for a quite meal.

Refurbished hall stunned the eye, looked like giant chess board. Very unusual sence of the space. But nice. When fhe food was served this odd sence of space continued, such large plates left us shuffling around with the glasses condiments veg dishes etc. Quite a fete for us four. We each ordered different meals which were quite nice but nothing more. We did however find the staff really good, the service fast and the food hot. The atmosphere calm comfort and very friendly, As a non drinker on leaving I had to wonder what affect that hall floor would have if I had enjoyed a wine or two. Very nice indeed
