"The Hyacinth Tearoom has recently moved from Halstead. The staff are friendly, although service can be slow at times. The food ranges from okay to good, but the highlight is the selection of cakes. Previously known for their delicious traditional homemade cakes like Victoria sponge and lemon drizzle, the tearoom now mainly offers "drip" cakes. While these cakes may be visually impressive, it would be nice to have more variety to choose from. One positive aspect is that the tearoom is dog-friendly, with a few indoor tables for pet owners. Dining outside in nice weather is also a pleasant experience."

Really good food and service, good choice of light snacks and lunches and of course really scrumptious cakes !

I've been to this cafe many times over the years. It's a very pleasant place and the staff are nice (if a little rushed). But the prices are very expensive at the moment £6.80 for a latte and slice of cake is silly.

The staff and atmosphere at this restaurant are friendly and pleasant, however, the food is quite expensive. I ordered a sandwich with a small amount of sun-dried tomato, brie, and mushroom, along with a few crisps, salad, and a coffee, which came to a total of £11.45.

We had a lovely lunch in the barn. We had coronation chicken and mozzarella and pesto sandwiches. The sandwiches were accompanied by salad and crisps. The portions were generous and the food was tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful. We just tried this restaurant on spec as we were new to the area. We loved it!

We visited Hyacinth for the first time in a long while and it was well worth the visit. Excellent quality, food served hot, big portions and reasonably priced. The lady who served us was friendly and very attentive. Will certainly be our 'go to ' cafe when we are next in the area and it will be sooner rather than later.

The cafe is in a lovely barn with an amazing selection of cakes. The menu is friendly for meat eaters and vegetarians alike and they also welcome dogs inside which is a plus! The food has always been to a high standard and the only issue is that they regularly seem understaffed leading to slow service… not an issue if you’re not in a hurry though. Will return again soon.

What a delightful afternoon! The afternoon tea was absolutely fantastic. There were plenty of finger sandwiches, scones with cream and jam, and various cakes and desserts. The staff were excellent and the prices were very reasonable. The ambiance was simply magical, especially with the beautiful Christmas tree. I highly recommend this venue for any special occasion or just a casual lunch or afternoon coffee with friends.

What better place to have a wedding reception. Wow …this venue and the staff are simply amazing. From the first day we met the manager to the last second before we left it was just amazing. My husband and I had the best day but having the Hyacinth afternoon tea for all our family and friends just made it for us. We 100% recommend this stunning venue for any occasion.. Even if it’s just a tea and cake. Myself and My Husband cannot thank you enough..

I’m a regular at the cafe and farm shop and love it. The food is always great, with helpful, friendly staff. I do think that the prices are very steep for the main meals for a local cafe, sometimes more expensive that pubs. Also, what really annoys me that the farm shop never has any prices on the products, especially the fresh fruit and veg. I often have a certain amount of money and too embarrassed to go and pay and then not have enough money. Other than that, it’s a lovely place with great food and staff.

"We came here on a last minute hunt to find a Sunday roast with family without much expectations. However when entering its a lovely set up and we were greeted by Lee and Alison who looked after us for the meal who just to begin were absolutely brilliant, they really care about the customers and make this place extra special. Now for the food you can get a 2 or 3 course meal so everybody made various selections but all had starters. Most went for the Aarancina which isn't your usual starter with a Sunday roast but for here it packs alot of flavour and is a great way to start the meal. They have a great selection of alcoholic beverages I went for a simple beer. For the main roasts we had a variety of meats I wanted the pork but sadly they had no crackling which was half the reason for ordering but if I am being honest after eating the meal it wasn't missed out the meat was tasty full of flavour but the sides were the key. The roast potatoes were of a top level usually when you eat out they are never as good as eating at home, the Yorkshire were huge and tasty, gravy brilliant with plenty to go around and lots of veg and cauliflower cheese on the side. Honestly this was excellent a really good roast probably the best I have ever ate in a resteraunt. Some of the others had the lamb shank which was huge and had great feedback but the beef was great and so was everything else. So yes check it out eat in and eat some great food in a nice setting with absolutely brilliant service you won't be disappointed."

"What can I say….We held our wedding dinner and impromptu party ! on the mezzanine floor and had the time of our lives with our nearest and dearest. It’s been a pretty special place for us as we dined at the House by Hilly Gant to check the area out before moving from London and so as we were having a small wedding of 22 people we felt this was the best place to have our wedding. Suzanne and the team could not have done anything more to make our afternoon and evening so perfect. The food was outstanding and our guests were very impressed Harry and his cocktail making skills are second to none. Huge shout out to all the kitchen staff who’s attention to detail and timings were spot on. Leading up to the day itself Suzanne took charge and offered her expert advice on how to dress the room and made so much effort with our requirements. 3 children and 1 baby as part of the guest list! . The beef in particular was spectacular and the chocolate fondant was sublime. We honestly didn’t want to leave. After dinner Suzanne was able to crank the music up and we had a little party ensuring all the guests downstairs were still well looked after our friends were actually dining downstairs and were able to join us towards the latter part of the evening! From the bottom of our hearts thank you so much to everyone for making it so special for us. I’m not surprised that you were recently awarded your second rosette, totally deserved. For anyone looking for quality food, locally sourced, and beautifully executed this is the place to come. SEE YOU SOON and thank you again x"
