"What can I say….We held our wedding dinner and impromptu party ! on the mezzanine floor and had the time of our lives with our nearest and dearest. It’s been a pretty special place for us as we dined at the House by Hilly Gant to check the area out before moving from London and so as we were having a small wedding of 22 people we felt this was the best place to have our wedding. Suzanne and the team could not have done anything more to make our afternoon and evening so perfect. The food was outstanding and our guests were very impressed Harry and his cocktail making skills are second to none. Huge shout out to all the kitchen staff who’s attention to detail and timings were spot on. Leading up to the day itself Suzanne took charge and offered her expert advice on how to dress the room and made so much effort with our requirements. 3 children and 1 baby as part of the guest list! . The beef in particular was spectacular and the chocolate fondant was sublime. We honestly didn’t want to leave. After dinner Suzanne was able to crank the music up and we had a little party ensuring all the guests downstairs were still well looked after our friends were actually dining downstairs and were able to join us towards the latter part of the evening! From the bottom of our hearts thank you so much to everyone for making it so special for us. I’m not surprised that you were recently awarded your second rosette, totally deserved. The food was amazing. It worth the price. But we thought the atmosphere was cosier and it was bottomless drink (noise) and music was loud. The local looks so cool. We'll give another try other day and fingers crossed we can find the cosy environment linked to the local.

Really enjoyed myself at this restaurant and loved the food. I had the mushroom starter, the pork to main and the crème brûlée for dessert and couldn’t fault any of it! Service was great, our waiter had a sense of humour and at last minute switched out table to outside without any complaints etc. will visit again.

One of the best places in Braintree. All round 5 star. Lovely old building well kept and nice decor. Service is always excellent here and staff always very friendly. I've eaten here a few times now and everytime have been impressed. Lovely meals made by great chefs. Very reasonable prices too especially considering how good the food is. Would definitely recommend this place for a nice meal out.

Went here a few months ago for a graduation dinner, had heard amazing things about the previous owners and name so hoped highly they'd kept these traditions going, however the food was incredibly expensive considering the over-seasoned taste in all the meals. Food not as hot as would be expected, far too much cheese on a fish dish? To boot it was incredibly loud with too many tables in one room. I don't doubt this could have improved the last few months however please choose wisely when choosing to part with a significant portion of cash.

Lovely first time here. Warm welcome by all staff. Risotto finally a restaurant that served this to us on a warm plate ! Goats cheese beetroot, it was excellent warm to the last mouthful. Our other choices were all very good, presented well the tasty Chablis cold but disappeared far too quickly, lol but another bottle helped us through !! Perfect size servings, giving us the choice to do 3 courses. Tarte tartin creme brulee hit the spot. And I must mentioned the parmesan truffle chips a definate whatever your food choices !! Very highly recommended
