"Beautiful cozy pub, I went in for a Sunday lunch. It was reasonably priced and the staff was very nice. Would definitely come back, the only reason it's not a 5 is that my roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding were burnt. Something else to note, they had loads of parking available which was a major plus! 09/03/2023 Update I went back to the grey horse and the yorkshore pudding and potatoes weren't burnt so I would now rate the whole thing was a 10/10. The food tasted even better than before and the service was excellent! Would 100% reccomend for anyone looking for a place to pop in for a nice Sunday Roast. :"

A very large pub on the main road between Mackem Land and Gods country. Some street parking at the front carpark at the rear. Lots of different areas inside for sitting with lots of room. Sitting area at the back. Staff are good and on the ball.

All round great ‘proper’ pub. The staff really can’t do enough for you and nothing is ever too much of an ask. I live in the area and we have plenty of pubs in Boldon but I come back to this one every single time because of the staff. Keep pouring that Peroni as good as you do

Having day, so went for tea. Pub was clean and friendly, he had his favourite, scampi, chips and mushy peas, I had burger and chips. Burger was really good lots of flavour but not overloaded with lots of extras. Staff were polite and checked in with us, making sure we had everything and were happy with meals.

Absolutely lovely bar with super staff, was gonna give them 4 stars as the tomato soup was warm (at best) but everything else was spot on and the staff were super friendly also polite, great atmosphere and will definitely be doing back so had to give them the full five stars! Very reasonably priced as well which is rare you see these days

We used to always go to the Grey Horse since moving to East Boldon 12 yrs ago, however we stopped going earlier in the year as the food and staff were just not up to standard.Since the refurbishment and new staff we have returned and can't fault the food and staff both are fabulous as is the pub itself. We will certainly be eating here in future once again.

we visited the grey yesterday evening to watch the foot and have eaten the special £10.99 meal for two here often in the past. the personal is always professional, but friendly, the ambiente is great and the hunters huh in BBQ sauce with slices of speck on the top made chips, garden broom was excellent. what more can I say, apart from them will not be destroyed.

"We have been eating here on a regular basis for a while now. We have taken friends as well as just going as a couple. It is positioned above the Jolly sailor pub so beware there are stairs to climb. There are seats as you enter along with a bar and a room at the back as well. Paula has a wonderful display of photographs from Italy on display to give it a more authentic feel.We have always been warmly welcomed by the staff and you definitely should book to avoid disappointment, they do have a lot of regulars. We have also visited on special occasions such as Halloween, Valentine's Day and new Year's Eve. On these occasions there are always additions to the usual menu or in the case of NYE a set menu which had to be pre ordered. There are always home made bread buns awaiting you followed by another treat on the house. The menu is varied and there is always a specials blackboard. The starter selection is varied but if you plan a dessert go hungry as the starters are definitely not mean portions. We have tried pretty much all the menu between us and whether your taste is pizza, pasta, meat or fish you will not be disappointed. A dish of either veg of gorgeous chunky chips comes with your main from the meat and fish and a side of salad is enough for two should you opt for that. The desserts are very reasonably priced and often have a seasonal special on them. Coffees are a good price and the wine selection is varied and again a decent price. There are a few typically Italian cocktails on offer too.At the end of the meal you are offered a digestif to set you on your way. We have been in a large group for an outing and they cope steadily with delivery of the meals to all without a long gap.The real draw is the friendly welcome and the kindness the staff display along with the obvious hard work to please the customers.Alex has a dry wit and is delighted if you have a good evening. There is a happy hour from 5 with 25% off menu prices. It is closed on a Sunday except for special occasions."
