"loves the henhouse, especially because the staff is very good, friendly and happy to chat a little. eating is great and in many portions I never let hunger! there is also a good selection of drinks. on Friday they have a musician and it is an open slot for musicians to apply. it's even paid. the music is not so loud that it spoils the conversation, and it is great to see restaurants that try such things that also supports the artist. their burgers are also better than any of the "Gremet" offers elsewhere in the city."

It’s a breath of fresh air to find somewhere independent and different to eat . It’s quirky, friendly with an original menu . The music was just right too still able to hear conversation.Great price and excellent service , go !

visited on a girl's night outside. good reviews on tripadvisor. the restaurant was quiet. menu was ok with a selection of chicken dishes. we ordered prosecco that they had to go to buy something! the chicken burgers were delicious and the chips delicious!

Lovely atmosphere and great service. Menu was a little limited for vegetarians and very limited for vegan. Food was fresh and well presented, tasted amazing. Seating was a slightly uncomfortable but the hen cushions were a great addition. Would go back and dine again with friends. View menu

delicious eating, very generous portions, quiet as we were in the early layer, but I think it burns when full. will definitely return. only other commentary recommend tables are slightly changed so that the person sitting next to the wall is not close to decorative wooden crates on the wall (ouch!

My sister and I were visiting Exeter for the day and looked online for restaurant ideas. Martin is a friendly and very welcoming host, who spent time advising us on dishes we asked about. The ambience was very relaxed and comfortable and we loved the original Hen House themed decor. We decided to try the Pieroggi (dumplings) which were new to us, and they were delicious. Would definitely recommend this restaurant!

"Owner rude and arrogant! And you can’t trust them and they won’t make your order right by just saying too busy to make it right! I called in to make a booking but told no tables available but I could place an order for takeaway so I ordered two gluten free pizzas. I also asked what size are the gluten free pizza crust and was told 11”. I was told I would need to wait 1 hour 30 minutes and I agreed. I ordered the Gluten free 11 “ crust as advised for one Olive Tree and one Garlicky . When I arrived, I asked the person with the pizzas to confirm the gluten free pizzas. She looked a bit worried and said they were not gluten free. I asked the other girl if I would have to wait another 1.5 hrs and she said they would expedite my pizzas. The owner came over and said he had two vegan pizzas for 8:30 pm and I said that is not what I ordered. He said he was too busy to remake the pizzas. He said the girl that took the order said she didn’t remember gluten free was ordered. As a Celiac , those are the first words out of my mouth when I order any food and I also inquired the size of the gluten free crust and frequently they are pre-made and sealed and I was told they are 11”. He would not remake the pizzas as he said he has to trust his staff. So he implies the customer are lying and uses it as an excuse to not make it right. It doesn’t excuse not remaking the pizzas correctly as ordered gluten free as I was told a few minutes earlier. I assured him I ordered both pizzas gluten free and my wife came in and also confirmed as she heard me place the order on the phone. I realize this pizza must be well done and popular but not to remake the pizzas and imply me a liar and refusing to remake them is unprofessional. I find his behavior arrogant, rude and unprofessional and just because he went to Italy to learn how to make pizza doesn’t make him a good owner and manager. Hopefully, he won’t blow off this review but learn from it. Always make it right for your customers! And never insult your customers! It also suggest he doesn’t care about his customers because he is too busy. He walks away and just repeats he has to trust his employees. Poor excuse for not making the pizzas as ordered! Employees can make mistakes and as a Coeliac I will also double check as I did when I came to pick up the pizzas. I would advise Coeliacs to not try these pizzas as you can’t trust them to make them to your order. Peace be with you! Dietary restrictions You cannot trust this place to make your gluten free as ordered and they won’t remake it if they made it wrong and just say I have to trust my staff. Very Poor attitude from an owner and a bit arrogant! Customers don’t appear to be important and must be lying if they get an order wrong."
