"From outside the house looks slightly bland and uninspiring. Do not be put off and push the door! Hotel de la Gare embodies the authentic ‘’café restaurant’’ of a village. On one side, the café itself with its social life and passionate talks. On the other side, the restaurant part quieter, cozy and boasting an intimate atmosphere. I sat in the restaurant to enjoy my dinner. A huge thumbs up to Françoise the tenant for her friendly and efficient service. It really reflects Swiss hospitality at its best. The menu is short as the house explicitly prouds itself on homemade dishes (those which are not ‘’fait maison’’ are clearly marked on the menu). As starter I enjoyed the marinated salmon delicate and tasty. As main course I chose the veal escalope in lemon sauce quite generous and tasty portion, the veal was very tender. No room left for a big dessert, therefore I only had the ‘’Café Gourmand’’ with delicious samples. Despite Yvonand’s location by Lake Neuchâtel, prices remain pleasantly moderate (for Swiss standards): the bill amounted to CHF70. Considering the great food and excellent service, Hotel de la Gare offers outstanding value for money."

Simple, but totally fine. Very good alternative to Yverdon. Good rooms, bed, bathroom and breakfast. Free parking. Excellent in-house restaurant, where I had my best beef-Tatar ever!

on our tour west Switzerland we stopped at the de la gare in yvonand. the rooms are small, clean, it has everything you need. the basic price of fr, 140.00 for the double room is too high, because for this money it offers zero luxury. still - we felt comfortable. for 20.00 per person you can add half board - which is in turn favorable. then the price for the dz is calculated with half board. the 3 loner was very good - fine salat, fried chicken and tiramisu. sympathetic operation

To my mind, Hotel de la Gare is one of the finest and most memorable places I’ve ever stayed in. I and my friend booked a room just for two nights, but we wanted this experience to last much longer. First of all, we were really impressed by the landlady of the hotel. I can bet I hadn’t ever seen such an energetic and at the same time hospitable person working in the service before. Bravo! Secondly, the dishes at the hotel restaurant were delicious. I was absolutely happy to try new things from the French cuisine. A lot of thanks to the cook! Thirdly, the location itself is perfect to have a beach holiday on the lake or go hiking in the surroundings of Yvonand. The whole time we spent there w...

"The location is amazing, with such a location I do hope this place is a gold mine. You will have to park at the beginning of the road, just below the train station, cars cannot reach the restaurant. But it is a small walk that you will appreciate after the meal. The place was quite crowded when we came, but there is plenty of staff, I have seen busier places run smoother with less staff. This is to say that service is friendly, you can see that they are really trying, but they are not well organized and prone to panicking, moving a lot of air but not doing a lot of work. We were not in any hurry but we waited quite a lot and so did much of the customers. What is clearly lacking is proper organization and calm and efficient management. The menu is absolutely tiny, so I do recommend you check online before going, because if you don't find anything you like, you will not have lots of options. I took an octopus salad for a starter, the taste was good, but the octopus was quite rubbery. I know that Switzerland is far from the sea, but I managed to eat seafood that wasn't so rubbery before. Then I had a beef tartar and my wife took perch fillets. Presentation is very well done. I was asked if I wanted my tartar spicy, agreed because I like it hot, It came directly without any opportunity to try and correct the seasoning and it was quite hot. Ok for me, I like it hot, but if this is the way it is served usually, I fear that some people might not appreciate the surprise. The perch fillets were ok, maybe just a bit dry. We the had desserts, I took a creme brulee and my wife had an iced coffee. Both desserts had a very good taste. All in all it was definitely not a bad experience, but it was not great. So considering the price, I don't think I will go back there anytime soon. It is quite sad because this place has such a huge potential. If their service could be a bit sharper, their menu slightly larger and overall quality just a bit brighter, this place would be an absolute must."
