"During a short visit to the quaint town of Fidenza, near Parma, together with a group of 30 persons I had dinner at this establishment, just before attending the opera at the nearby Teatro Magnani. The set menu consisted of 1 freshly sliced cold cuts, 2 two kinds of 'primi ' pasta dishes , and 3 desert. 1 The waiters brought a few large platters with a selection of regional salami, coppa, cooked and raw ham prosciutto cotto and prosciutto crudo . Remember, Fidenza, like Parma, is in the Emilia, land of Parma ham, Parmiggiano Reggiano cheese, and so much more. It goes without saying, therefore, that the 'crudo ' literally melts in your mouth. It can get better than that. The cold cuts were served with freshly made 'gnocco fritto ', a traditional 'bread ' from the Emilia region, a dough made from flour, water and a pinch of salt, then deep-fried in lard. 2 If you ever visit Emilia and you don 't have the ubiquitous 'tortellini ', then you haven 't really been to Emilia. At this restaurant, they make their own pasta, every day. Like a bakery, you can see how they work the 'sfoglia ' fine sheets of fresh pasta dough and make the tortellini. The ones we had were served in traditional fashion: butter and Parmiggiano cheese filling was with ricotta cheese and chards, no meat . Like the butter, these tortellini melted in our mouths. I had two servings, but I could have had another two if it weren 't for the 'second ' primo... Yes, there was a second pasta dish, this time small pasta buds with baked beans in Italian, 'pasta e fagioli ' . This is a staple in many parts of central-southern Italy, but each region has its own variety. Here, the pasta and beans were 'dry ', not in a soup therefore very common in the south of the country . The beans were so good, they tasted like meat sauce 'Bolognese ', sort of . I was so full from the previous primo that I had only one serving of the second primo. I wish I had a container to bring them home! 3 This Trattoria makes their own deserts, clearly, but as we were short of time, we 'just ' had the home-baked tarts, one with fruit jam, the other a typical crumbly pie called 'Sbrisolona ' literally, 'big crumbler ' . If you ever go to Mantova, north of Fidenza in Lombardy, but on the border of Emilia you will find this tart everywhere. I don 't know if I will ever manage to go again to Fidenza, but if I should feel the urge to have some really good and genuine 'tortellini ', with no doubts I 'll visit the Antica Trattoria al Duomo again."

"Si trovano piatti che erano persi nella nostra memoria come le ossa di maiale bollite e servite fumanti, oppure il salame cotto nel vino bianco. Insomma, una trattoria di altri tempi dove si sta bene e si gustano buoni prodotti e si chiude un occhio su alcune formalità. Tavoli ben preparati, in ordine e distanziati, un caldo braciere, un menu ricco di piatti tipici parmensi, vini della zona. Antipasti con una buona pancetta e un'ottima soppressata, buoni anche i porcini sott'olio serviti in abbondante quantità. Come primi i tortelli (erbetta, zucca o patate) e le tagliatelle in vario modo. In stagione si trova anche il tartufo. Nei secondi cotechino, tagliata e filetto in vari modi, scaloppine. Prezzo nella norma. Poi ci sono un po' di difetti, dai camerieri al bagno piccolo piccolo tra la cucina e la sala..."

"Pranzo con famiglia, dopo la visita al labirinto del Masone.C'è l'imbarazzo della scelta, il menù è veramente ricco.Tutti i piatti li abbiamo trovati molto buoni. Su tutti direi il guanciale caramellato alle erbe aromatiche, tenerissimo e saporitissimo.C'era un piatto del giorno di taglierini con i funghi porcini. La pasta molto ben fatta e ben cotta, poco gustosi i funghi, quasi inavvertito il sapore.La punta da latte croccante con patate e cipolline mi è sembrata un po' stopposa, ma saporita anch'essa.Buoni i dolci, anche se la torta di mele avrebbe potuto essere scaldata un poco.Buono il vino e non tanto caro.Una pecca in generale l'atteggiamento del titolare (che prende le ordinazioni): ci è sembrato scocciato e poco propenso anche solo ad un sorriso.Non dico che si debba essere tappetini coi clienti, ma un po' più di garbo non dispiace. In fondo a tavola si viene anche per pranzare in relax.Ho tolto un pallino per questo."

"Cozy place adjacent to the Duomo. Tasty and plentiful dishes. Fast and courteous service. I recommend the typical Parma platter full of cold cuts and superlative Parmesan, and as usual, don 't miss the delicious fried rorta basket. Also delicious are the fried polenta with gorgonzola and the millefeuille of gorgonzola. The first course of ravioli with taleggio cheese with crispy bacon was exquisite. And finally a very generous portion of setteveli cake with generous layers of chocolate and cream. And finally ... last but not least the unforgettable background music. More or less hard rock songs from the 80s/90s. In short, a unique experience to be repeated absolutely. I will not fail to make new stops for refreshments at the tavern number 1000 in Fidenza."

"Osteria con piatti tipici. Situata in centro storico accanto al Duomo di Fidenza. Cordialità con la clientela e ottimo servizio. Oltre i tavoli all'interno sono presenti dei tavoli in distesa esterna. Lambrusco ottimo servito a scelta o in classico calice oppure lo consiglio vivamente) in scodella da vino come si usava nelle vecchie e vere osterie piacentine. Ottima la torta fritta con ottimi salumi. I ravioli al lambrusco con ripieno di taleggio, conditi con deliziosi asparagi e pancetta croccante...strepitosi. Rapporto qualità prezzo molto buono. Capitati per caso... è stata una vera sorpresa gastronomica. Consigliatissimo."
