"The place caters to large tourist groups and their tastes. Servers genuinely were attentive and responsive to requests and explained dishes and questions. One of the few menus in town with pictures to help you choose when you're not local or Italian. Some dishes were all right pasta was fine. Wine was nothing special. Probably wouldn't go back again. Positioned on one of the most panoramic views of Matera, Il Terrazzino is an excellent characteristic restaurant. We had lunch based on typical dishes, an appetizer based on vegetables, local cured meats and cheeses. Advised. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Food average, nothing special, service terrible! They hate tourists. The boss was talking on the phone while giving the menu. I wanted to order a small beer and they said they didn't have any, only large ones. Later, when the boss's friends came, suddenly there was a small beer. Don't go there!!!!! "I sent the restaurant weeks in advance by e-mail to ask if they could provide two gluten intolerances for my daughter's birthday. They assured me that there are many gluten-free options and so I have booked. We were unavoidably delayed, but I called and left a message on the answer phone. When we arrived, we were greeted after a wait with a welcome cocktail and delicious gluten-free bread and Amuses Bouches. Antipasti and Secondi were delicious, beautifully presented and original. The studio was helpful and gave excellent advice. The waiting staff was overworked, it seemed and the service was perfunctory. Our waiter gave up completely when it came to Desserts, he told us that no dessert was gluten-free (remember it was my daughter's birthday) and Dessert is her favorite course. After a gentle request, the waiter hesitated to use a sgroppino with fennel sorbet. It worked really surprisingly well, but would not have been offered if we had not proposed it. A disappointing end of a magical birthday trip to Matera and being fair, the beginning of dinner promised and was very delicious. We live in Italy and are not tourists. When we heard the American voices around us, we realized that this restaurant tourists especially and quite cynical we suspect that the employees do not need to make too much of an effort, as tourists tend not to return. We will return to Matera this November, but will try many of the other restaurants on offer. Note the restaurant, try to make a little effort when someone contacts you weeks in advance. How can a zabaione not be adapted to someone who needs to eat gluten-free? Le Origini, the beautiful hotel in which we were, was pointed out in advance that we do not eat gluten and baked a fresh pistacchio cake at home, for breakfast gluten-free. This is the way to please your customers and we will stay there in November!"
