"Having been in Rome on numerous occasions I have experienced many cozy restaurants with great food; my evening at Il Vescovado in Sutri trumped them all! Starting the evening with a great red house wine and working our way through the primeri, a wonderful selection of pasta dishes and then moving on to a huge steak prepared on the coal grill in the restaurant with fresh lemon squeezed over it. After these two dishes the food kept coming, fresh bruschetta scrapped with garlic and finishing off with sautéed lamb liver! Towards the end of dinner, the restaurant owner Toni sat with us at the table and some of his friends joined; pulling out the limoncello, grappa and more digestives! We sat at the table until 00:30 enjoying the atmosphere and great company. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in Sutri or Rome for that matter as you can combine it with a trip to the historic city and the amphitheater. Grazie Mille Toni!! Simon e Shaber"

This was our favourite meal of our holiday, and was great value as well. The service was very friendly, and the chef was happy to alter a dish to make it vegetarian. I recommend this very highly indeed.

good atmosphere in a place built in an ancient palace. a large fireplace from where many good dishes come. and well the other dishes served by very kind staff. the minimum wait. prices just above average. Try. a note: they did not ask to see the green pass.

Besides the menu, which especially in the first sees its strength, they also make dishes of the day. they had prepared a sauce of sausage and cocks that we took with polenta and dumplings and we devoured them. honest account. a place to return without remore View menu

walking in this picturesque village, there is the vescovado, found by chance, but I was attracted by the many people at the table on the veranda (closed) and from the position from nested between the walls of the ancient village, in fact it was a surprise! courteous service, without reservation. It was a risk, but they found a place. you eat well from the first to dessert what we took was all good, meat to the brace tooop, special tiramisù. Red wine. I recommend it in full.

I see that this restaurant has a certificate of excellence 2014 . Well, I regret to say we did not experience any excellence at all and the restaurant was very disappointing. The owner/manager was pleasant enough, but the cook (if she was the cook) very surly and almost threw our meal in front of us. They did, however, manage to give me gluten free pasta. We were the only customers in the restaurant until just before our meal was finished. A couple of people came in to pick up take away. Could have been so much better and although on a side street, the setting is quite nice and it is nice atmosphere inside.
