"Dots Experimental Sushi is located down a passageway off the top end of Mariahilferstrasse, the main shopping street of Vienna between the 6th and 7th districts, a 15/20 minute walk from the centre.We went with friends as we wanted a lively, young, trendy place. The manned cloakroom upon entry immediately demonstrates that this is an upper-end place. Then the next thing that strikes you is how incredibly dark it is. It certainly adds atmosphere and is very cosy whilst dining, but we struggled to find our friends and would not have been able to read the menu at all without the help of mobile phone torches.The décor is young and trendy, as are all the waiting staff. The shorts as part of the uniforms added to the quirky, trendy feel.Food consisted of a wide variety of Asian dishes with a modern, experimental twist. The quality of more standard dishes such as sashimi, spring rolls, etc. was high. I didn’t try some of the more experimental sushi and maki, but they looked good.The atmosphere later was more cocktail lounge/club appealing to the young, affluent trendy crowd. No need to break up the evening moving from dinner to club. The cocktails were excellent.Overall it was fun and lively, but some of the quirkiness was in my view a little annoying (but I am older and more staid than the target audience). Food was good quality, but somewhat pot-luck as to whether you will like some of the experimental flavours, which are hard to imagine from the menu (if you have enough light to read it).Prices were a little on the high side. Only in Vienna can the young and trendy afford to party in such style."

"Dots" is situated at the rooftop of a building of Mariahilferstrasse. The atmosphere is good, service as well. The food is fresh and delicious. Its not exactly traditional Asian cuisine , but its good enough for the proposed level.

On one side we had a great experience at this place in March, on the other side not such a good one in September. Services was quite "undercooled" and food not spectacular which you expect at this place ... therefore "only" an average...

I went for dinner with my boyfriend to this Japanese restaurant, because he loves shushi. (I don't like it too much).The restaurant is huge, with a modern decoration that we really liked.Our table was closed to the dj, the music was very loud, so I didn't like this, because we have to talk loud to talk to each other.Our waiter was very nice, and taking care about us every minute.If you go, order the dumplings with prawns, it was amazing.Not expensive, and big dishes.
