"We used Jacks because it is adjacent to the museum, which we were visiting. I was hesitant because two friends and I once walked out after waiting more than 20 minutes for our 3 coffees but this time they redeemed themselves. I had a bacon...brioche bun with a pot of Earl Grey tea and both were delicious. My husband had a beer with his Rarebit with onion dressing and condiment, which was a bit onion heavy for my taste but he declared it very tasty so that's probably a menu choice issue. Service was fine and friendly this time round. My only complaint; it was January and they leave their door open so if you are seated in the draught as we were, it isn't at all pleasant. In fact, the door has no means by which departing customers can close it (even if they weren't born in a barn, which so many seemed to be). This definitely needs fixing with one of those hydraulic closing fixings."

Jacks Cafe is lovely._ To describe the cakes as luscious is spot-onVictoria Sponge oozed cream and strawberry jam .

I was here a few times and the food and service was always great. I recently had the mushrooms on toast, which was delicious and the portion size was very generous. iced coffee and the biscoff hot chocolate were also beautiful.

Not just the usual fare, had the bubble and squeek with a poached egg and it was divine! highly recommend, the restaurant, atrium and garden were all lovely. Staff could not have been more professional and they still take COVID precautions

Run by students service was fine but no serviettes provided or butter for plain scone which my Partner eat dry. Overcharged for fruit scone with clotted cream and jam menu said £3.50 but charged individually for scone £2.80, plus 50p each for clotted...cream and jam. Hot chocolate could have been hotter. I think place is somewhat over-rated. View menu

we stopped here for lunch, and the menu had a nice selection of things to do. my mushrooms on toast were delicious as my wads with karamalised banane. well presented and friendly and attentive service. the prices were with the local ie; expensive, but a beautiful...treat we sat in the covered sitting area on the back and it was a nice environment, not too cloged or noisy.

Been to jacks before, and always had a reasonable service, yesterday popped in for a takeaway slice of the gluten free cake, absolutely stunning cake but it was the last slice, and for some obscure reason the waitress saw fit to slice a chunk off...the single slice sat there, so I was unaware of the tiny bit I had in my takeaway box. I would certainly check in future. £3 for what seemed less than half a slice of cake! I've had it instore as sit down, and it's always been a fair slice! Very disappointed regular customer!
