Following a terrific tour and tasting, this is a great place to sit and relax for some tasty baked goods and a non-alcoholic (gasp) beverage!

The food is wholesome, large portions, well priced and with very efficient and friendly staff. A great location and well worth booking pre or post distillery tour

Visited mainly for the distillery. Lunch was good and my husband enjoyed the cullen skink. Did some whisky tasting at the bar as tours were not available. Bought another bottle to take home.

This is a modern vibrant visitors centre with a good restaurant which is extremely popular and advisable to book in advance. The whisky was not bad either. Amazing location near a world class beach. View menu

Cullen skink 11 out of 10. Staff very friendly if not a little hung over from the night after their open day. Was our second trip to the cafe and would go again if our visit to Islay were to last longer.

Came here for lunch and I wasn’t disappointed. Lovely visitors centre with a nice cafe not a big menu but excellent. Cakes were really good. Also nice area to try a dram (or two). We’ll definitely be back.

Being Scottish, I have had Cullen Skink many times but this was the best ever! Super creamy, tasty and a great addition to the delicious sandwiches! We can definitely recommend and do have a browse in their gift area, beautiful!! Thank you to all the... View menu

Whether due to covid or not, we found the new Kilchoman cafe a little disappointing in terms of its menu offerings basically standard option 'fillers ' that you could have with either baked potato or with a panini. Portions were fine, and quality good but...

Finding the cafe here was very welcome during our tour of the more northern distilleries. Food on offer was limited mainly sandwiches, soup, paninis but were good quality, filling and good value. The distillery itself was worth a visit fir the free dram and...

"On our last day here, killing time before the ferry, decided to try luncheon here. No expectations either way. And we were TOTALLY wowed it was just excellent. Trying not to put too many superlatives in this review, but it was really, really ace. We had a lovely table by the window overlooking the harbour where you could see dog walkers, children in wellies, crabbing, and little boats coming and going. Classic Islay. Then I have to mention the food. Jeez, it was top notch, and huuuuuuuge portions. I don’t think we’ve ever had four such consistently generous and fulfilling portions before. We had the scallops (massive, juicy, plentiful , the Crofter’s Platter, which was cheeses, hams, sausage rolls, salad, bread, chutneys; the soup massive bowl, loadsa crispy sourdough bread, and the fish and chips which was so big it draped over the plate! All delicious. Our guy, Andrew, was superb, so attentive and smiley and always bringing us more things, spoons, drinks, more bread, spoons, he was great. And we had a lovely chat with the very friendly and nice proprietor. She was wonderful. Really seemed to care about the place and her team. She told us all about the hotel and stuff it was really cool. We will most certainly come back here next time. You can’t necessarily get the best table every time, but we won’t mind if we don’t! : Oh, also, lovely clean loos!"

"We booked this restaurant after reading the reviews while touring Scotland what a disappointment. When we arrived we were shown to a table straight behind the door and as it kept opening and shutting it blew a massive amount of cold air in. As both parents and staff allowed 2 young children to go in and out every few minutes it got a bit much. We were given the menu and told specials were on the board. No description or recommendation. Also they did not say the board also goes over the top of the fish on didplay. I had crab claws to start the mayonnaise was lovely and what I could get out of the claws was nice but I was given no instruments to get into the claws and they were not broken enough for them to just pull out. I ordered the turbut for main as did my husband it was a small fillet with the skin correctly removed but it was loaded with garlic butter sauce you couldn't taste the fish for the garlic. Also which was worse I don't know what they did to the top of it but it was yellow and like thin rubber. We had to peel it off it was not good. I didn't complain at the time because I am not used to having a fillet of turbut. When I have had it before my husband and I have shared a turbut presented whole at the table. I have only written this today after speaking to some friends who said i should put something on because there had to be something wrong for the top of the fish to be yellow and leathery. You might guess but I won't be going back."
