"Very friendly old pub with dining, owned by the community and serving great real ales and home made food including excellent pies! Three dining areas, including bar area and two dining rooms plus a large outdoor space for warmer months. We had delicious garlic prawns for starters, steak and ale pies, one of our party also had fish and chips which was equally really good. The desert menu is very impressive! 14 different home made puds, big selection of sorbets and ice creams and a cheese board. Treacle Tart and Lemon Drizzle Tart were both super. Log fires and friendly vibe, great value for money too."

Awful. steaks chewy and fatty and not trimmed. Two burgers; one forgotten and turned up 30 minutes late. Promises much; delivered a poor experience.

Visited with friends for a Sunday lunch. Had roast beef lunch. Couldn't cut through the beef or the roast potatoes of which there were 3. Ended up eating just carrots and veg with a Yorkshire pudding for £14.95 very disappointing.

I lived in Shouldham until I was 21 and frequented this pub in my teens. Not been back for 18 years or so. Delighted to see real ale in a cask, gravity dispensed. Food was superb. Staff really friendly. Modernisation of the pub has been done tastefully so still has character.

We had a fantastic experience at this friendly and welcoming pub. My husband, two teenagers, our dog and I enjoyed a delicious Sunday lunch. The prices were reasonable and the pints were superb. We definitely plan on returning in the future. The staff were excellent - keep up the good work! View menu

We went to the restaurant for lunch on Saturday and found it to be very clean. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. We made a reservation ahead of time for our group of 7. The food was delicious and all of our dishes arrived at the same time. We plan to come back soon to try more items from the menu.

In Norfolk for a night away and a trip to the beach and needed somewhere to eat and primarily watch the rugby. Found the pub on line, rang and booked a table and was extremely pleased. Lovely food (pulled beef chilli was excellent), huge portions and the service from the staff could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. Thanks for a lovely evening.

2nd time we’ve visited, and 2nd time strange drinks have appeared on our bill strange .. do non locals get to buy the locals a drink without being asked, or is it just poor ‘tab management’ ? Otherwise, pies with decent amount of meat, though not much veg. to accompany. Decent service, though claimed to be busy, but all we could see was one more table. Morale of story check your bill, carefully View menu

So, it’s been a few years since our last visit where the place was outstanding. We visited this week for a Sunday roast, the beef was hard dry and had a Lacey texture. The entire meal had a strange taste to it and the chipolates we ordered as a side where hard and awful. Such a shame that a lovely pub which used to have outstanding food has gone so down hill. We felt really sorry for the lovely waitress

I wish my local pub was as great as this one (I live in South Wales). The atmosphere is friendly, the service is excellent, and it's dog friendly (I have never seen so many dogs in one pub at the same time) with treats and water provided for them. The food was fantastic, especially the homemade steak and ale pie, which had lots of tender meat and delicious gravy. The only downside was that they were setting up for a beer festival (a large marquee on the village green in front of the pub) which was starting on Friday, the day I was leaving. What a shame.
