"I 'm not going to jump into the type of hyperbole that I sometimes see and declare this to be The! BEST! Pizza! Ever! This is not a top end dining place, but sometimes that isn 't what you either need nor want. The pizza that I had here was excellent in my estimation (in both quality and value , and the service was very good indeed as well, but there was an additional thing that made my visit here something that (for me at least will always be memorable. I 've given the rating of 5 not because it 's the best restaurant that you can find, but more because to my mind it suits its intended purpose (a good quality, good value local diner nearly perfectly. Our latest tour of Italy was designated the Live Like A Local tour. No coach trips (other than the occasional one dayer , where possible apartments rather than hotels, grocery shopping, train catching, the whole thing. However the other three that were with me do not speak any Italian, so when waiters, shop assistants etc heard me speak English to them, they immediately spoke English as well. On the day in question, though, I had a head cold and had to send the other three off without me. Come lunch time, I was by myself. There are quite a few eateries in the main square of Stresa indeed you are spoilt for choice and I browsed their menus. I was really only after something simple and dripping with enough garlic to kill a squadron of vampires and a few cold viruses too, ideally. Although it 's a subjective thing, something stuck me as being more authentic and less touristy about the menu here. I therefore went in, got a table and ordered a basic marinara pizza with plenty of garlic and a soft drink, all without a word of English being spoken. (Though of course the staff CAN speak English quite well, based on the tables around me which were mostly occupied by English speaking tourists. So there I was, sitting in the middle of the plaza (I 've attached a photo but sometimes the connection between photos and reviews are a bit iffy on TripAdvisor on a relaxing warm, sunny day, watching both locals and tourists alike go past, and eating a pizza which was in my estimation just the right size (another photo is attached to demonstrate , which was dripping with flavour, and which had cost me only €5.50 Oh, and occasionally making a bit of small talk with the staff in Italian. I 'm going to tag this restaurant as mid range because cheap eats may give the wrong impression. In my opinion the prices were very reasonable, but my pizza had a quality to it that went beyond cheap . Granted it was one of the worst days I had on that trip because of the accursed head cold. But oddly, in a trip that had many great moments, my pranzo veloce (quick lunch here was one of them. Should I be fortunate enough to return to Stresa again, I already have a place pencilled in for lunch. Although they don 't seem to have a web site, the name is memorable enough given the cuisine."
