This iconic family restaurant offers high-quality Pakistani cuisine. I visit every 2-3 months and am always impressed. The food is served promptly with excellent service. Prices are slightly high but reasonable considering the quality of ingredients. They also have affordable specials. This restaurant is basic but delivers intense flavors without any unnecessary frills.

Stunning flavours, friendly caring service. Go go go! It's a BYO establishment with a very close Tesco if you want wine or ale. We had the recommended dishes although I'd gladly go back and sample more. I want to try the Methi Chicken next time. The rice pudding was a revelation with delicate cardamon flavouring like no rice pudding you ever tasted. Thank you Lahore One!

Excellent food, Lahore One is a traditional, no-frills cafe known for its delicious dishes, considered one of the top restaurants in the E1 area. Their specialties include slow-cooked Chan (6 hours) and Rice Pudding (6 hours). I visited with 5 friends last night and we were impressed by the fast and friendly service, as well as the high quality of all the dishes we tried. View menu

I’m a repeat reviewer. Been coming here 4-6 times per year for many years now. Gives me a certain insight particularly in matters of consistency, improvement and standards. Likely to be my last review of this wonderful, charming and cherished gaff for a while. I can only say the food was, as has always been, top-draw. We visited Lahore One Restaurant (218 Commercial Rd, Whitechapel, London E1 2JT opposite McDonalds) for the first time. We were pleasantly surprised with the service and tasty Punjabi style cuisine. We had lamb karahi, chicken karahi and channa dishes with tandoori nans and Mogo chips and finished off with kheer sweet dish; we toughly enjoyed all the dishes. It’s no frills restaurant serving excellent ‘home cooked taste’ food, we will visit Lahore One again soon.

I frequent this bastion of Pakistani Cuisine in the E1 area regularly. The food here is unique (albeit oily) and Lahore One has a proud ownership, proud family and well-informed staff who will try to accommodate you as best as they can. The food here is quite different from the other major Pakistani outlets (Lahore Kebab House, Tayyab), some would say it has an authenticity that cannot be matched. The Lamb Karahi, Chana, and Kheer are legendary. There's a rather good veg option which can vary daily. On the Biriyani question, L1 do what many restaurants do which is to add curry to rice I find it remarkable that some on this review page expect more. If you want a genuine Biriyani go to Gymkhan...
