"I chose to dine at Lascelles because the building looked beautiful and it was a convenient location for people coming from different directions. The menu appeared to be very appetizing, but the reality was quite disappointing. The starters were okay, but the sirloin steaks were chewy, rubbery, and overcooked. The pork loin was tough and the pomme frites were so hard they crumbled easily. When I sent back my steak, it came back just as bad. My mother couldn't even finish her pork loin. Despite our best efforts, my husband and sons eventually gave up on their meals. We were offered complimentary desserts, but even the soufflé was unexpectedly heavy. My teenage son diplomatically told the manager that the service was nice, but the food was a disappointment. Overall, it was my birthday and the meal ruined what had been a fantastic day. The restaurant had the audacity to charge us £180 for this subpar experience. I would not return to Lascelles and would not recommend it to others. I felt regretful for choosing this place."

More lighting is needed, especially in the food preparation area. Some tables were too dark and unwelcoming.

Lovely atmosphere in old house and good table for our dozen wine friends reunion. Vaired menu all cooked as requested and well presented and served. The drink went down well to.

Booked afternoon tea here. Not that impressed. Cakes were dry and the scones were hard. Leaky teapot so water spillage. Really quiet. Should play a bit of music. Lacking atmosphere. Really disappointed with this aspect of our stay.

Although the quality of the food was of a high standard my wife was disappointed at the meagre portion of fish she was served at dinner. I would recommend that guests use the Fat Abbott restaurant in preference to the Lascelles. Also prices are more reasonable for both food and drinks View menu

Part of a special offer of 2 nights and 1 evening meal in Lascelled. The meal did not disappoint. Juniper smoked duck breast to start, steak for me cooked as I like it and garlic chicken for the wife. We both had the fried potatoes with the pancetta, lovely. A very chocolate desert for my wife which she loved and cheese and biscuits for me. Homemade biscuits a nice touch. Lovely comfortable restaurant and excellent staff. Highly recommend.

We stayed at the Parsonage hotel for 2 nights and had breakfast in the restaurant both mornings .Very nicely set out and staff very attentive. Tea and coffee brought to the table....really good choice of hot food and good quality, the bacon was thick and lean. There was also a menu to order...I had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs both mornings as it was that good. Fresh fruit, yogurt, excellent muffins and plenty more. One of the best hotel breakfast’s I have had.

This restaurant very much has that old fashioned English hotel breakfast room/restaurant feel and so is pretty much scoring a zero on atmosphere. That said, the building itself and grounds do have a real old English charm, somewhat diminished by the busy A19 road at the end of the drive. As for the food, it was ok. Pleasant enough, the presentation was better than the quality of the dishes. But certainly nothing special and nothing I'll be actively seeking to experience again. View menu

Stayed in the hotel for the evening and on arrival told restaurant was fully booked. Was very disappointed but later that day asked again if they could squeeze us in and they did. Now here is the funny part on arrival there was only 5 tables all night. The restaurant had another 20 empty. Back to the food, it was very good. I had venison carpaccio that was stunning. Then rabbit which was nice too. We finished with the cheese platter which was amazing. Service was okay and friendly but certainly needs improving in its approach to guests. Although all staff were very pleasant.

We discovered this hotel online and were immediately intrigued by its location in a quaint village. Upon arrival, we were impressed by the amenities it offered, including a pool, a large gym, and a beautiful spa. The on-site restaurant, The Fat Abbot, served delicious and mouth-watering food with a great selection of wines. Although the hotel's own restaurant was closed, we had no issue dining at The Fat Abbot, which is affiliated with the hotel. The staff at the hotel were exceptional, providing attentive and polite service. The manager, Janet, was particularly knowledgeable about all aspects of the hotel and made our stay truly enjoyable. We plan to return for our wedding anniversary, than...
