"We had chosen to eat here because the mainly fish menu looked good, and Italian. But, on arrival, first impressions were not good: only one other diner, then a gushing patron who more or less rushed inside. As we were admiring the smart decor and thick, linen tablecloth and napkins, he then arrived with extra glasses, a bottle of white wine and a plate of 'amuse-bouches'. We thought we were being hustled into lots of unasked-for extras on the bill. (We later regretted these unfair thoughts). NB when it got busier le patron was less gushing; his waitress more than made up for him anyway.I chose seafood linguine from the 2-course €19 blackboard menu ; my wife, pavé de saumon from the carte. The seafood appeared "en papillote": and when I opened the envelope there was an immediate fragrance of saffron. Then, on tasting, I noted that the salty flavour often found in the sauce of this dish (with mussels, palourds, prawns, octopus, etc) was reduced by cream. The linguine was perfect (al dente). The whole was excellent. My wife's salmon was, again, superbly cooked: crisply grilled skin and succulent meat. The house red went well with both dishes. For sweet I had a simple fresh fruit salad - mainly peaches and nectarines, in a subtle liquor. Sadly, my wife's crème brulée was not properly set. And that was the only blot on an otherwise superb meal."
