Beautiful discovery, a generous kitchen a high-quality price ratio as we don’t have in the region of St Malo.

"After we booked this restaurant about 3 months before our visit, we were greeted by the owner with some amazement. I think she found it unusual that someone would book so far in advance and was intrigued to meet us. Our arrival at the hotel coincided with a crash so that sitting on the front terrace was not an option. We were shown in a table with a “reserved” sign. We ordered a 75cl bottle of Sauv blanc, which was then brought into a random open bottle with a capacity of about 50cl. It was obviously filled from a mass source. A measure was poured into our glasses that we tasted. The wine was fine, nothing special, light, certainly not complex, but definitely drinkable. This wine was the most affordable on the wine list at 21€, maybe we should have adjusted higher and paid another 5-10E. We discussed between us that the bottle was not big enough and review the wine list again to secure our facts when the owner noticed the problem. Then she slapped the young waitress, who then took the bottle away, tiredly apologised, and returned with another random unmarked decanted bottle, this time of the right size. While we were talking about the wine, we were not offered to keep the wine cold, like an ice cup. IMHO less complex, simpler wines, in particular must be consumed well cooled. Until we finished the bottle at the end of our meal, it was certainly not cooled. Too late we saw that the restaurant had the means through ice-water bags where bottles could sit to cool the wine. We should have offered one if the wine that I felt arrived. After the reasonable choices on the menu, our starters arrived soon. My partner had the cured salmon roulade with a good colorful and reasonably proportioned salad. This was fully enjoyed, but we both, although the amount of salmon was a bit annoying. I enjoyed a generous and excellent pork pottery served with a colorful dressed side salad. A new experience for me was the inclusion of several small red berries-like ingredients about the size of small cherries. These were soft and juicy and quite sharp on the tongue. I think they were cocktail onions that had been soaked in redness. Whatever they were, they were delicious, along with the cornichon, a perfect film for the solid and fleshy terrine. I think the terrain was served somewhat too cold, a little warmth would have allowed the flavors to develop completely before it is eaten. One word or two about the bread. France is known today for its crafted breads, with crisp and significant crusts, with an elastic consistency to the aerated dough underneath. Flavours that flood the mouth that satisfy and delight. The offer here had none of these qualities. The net came within a reasonable time so that we people observe and have a good drink of wine. We have the opportunity to ask if the owner could order a taxi to return to our hotel: that was a good 30-minute walk away. With the former rain (which had stopped at that time) we did not want to risk being caught in any recurring rainstorm. My partner and I had chosen Steak au Poivre with chips that arrived on good hot plates, accompanied by half boiled tomatoes with Herbs de Provence. The presentation would be called “rustic”, it was certainly not nouveau. However, the Rump-Steak was well cooked and the epitome of the “medium” cooked steak. The texture was wonderfully delicate and the taste was very full, each mouth was a joy. There was no part of the steak that remained on our plates at the end: so it was well trimmed. The quality of the steak was evident from the highest quality that offers the perfect food experience. The chips were homemade, I am sure, and they were simply with a soft fluffy center, and hot again. The Poivre sauce with whole peppercorns was easy and the steak was very complicated. Apart from the tomatoes that were sweet and herby there were no vegetables, I suppose it was what it said on the can – steak and chips. The owner approached us while we eat our main food to explain that three taxi companies had been contacted to see if they could offer us the transport back to our hotel; No one could. Don't worry, though a kitchen was ready to take us home. That was a great news! We decided to have a desert that arrived within a few minutes. My partner enjoyed a homemade Crème Brûlée, which was pleasant but cold: this is probably one of the two ways to use it. We are used to warm it. The caramelized sugar tip was crunchy and the crème was very smooth and delicate. I chose ice cream/sorbet. I would have ordered a boule of peach and a boule of raspberry (which would have been both sorbets), but there was no raspberry. So I had to take care of chocolate chips with my peach sorbet. This was not a real hardness and in fact it was a good separation of great quality and great flavors. Coffee was good too. A very pleasant and inexpensive meal. A few things I would appeal if I ran this restaurant, but the "bones were good", including most service."
