"We came for dinner, tempted in by the number of customer at tables and the menu enfant, which was reasonably priced at €8.50.We were quickly seated by a friendly waiter, who took our order speedily. The children opted for salmon with frites and steak-hache with frites. I ordered the entrecote from the a large carte, and my husband ordered the magret de canard. We accompanied this with a 50cl carafe of very nice Bordeaux. The food arrived quickly and portions were very generous. The salmon and duck were very tasty, however my entrecote was tough and the steak-hache was dry. However, we were so full that we skipped dessert! The meal came to a reasonable €70. Although I found the food underwhelming, it was overall a pleasant experience."

Good value for price, the food was good and our server was very efficient, the wine was good "Le Pavillon de Boyrein". The restaurant is very welcoming and was very busy that night.

Looked nice from outside and food was reasonable. However, service was dreadful with the most incredibly rude waiter almost slamming the plates in front of us. Had a good joke with the next door table about him!

Visited twice for evening meal. They do a 3 course set menu for just under 13 euros And unlike other restaurants there are about 5or 6 choices for each course. And all good French food - not burgers or basic! Everything we had was excellent. They also do a more expensive 2 course menu for 17 euros and then an even better one for 20 something- I can't remember the exact price. We went early just as it opened at 6.45 because it does get busy and there's a reason for that! View menu

US$15!I totally recommend this place if u're looking for French homemade cuisine!

Okay food but could be better The restaurant has a good brasserie atmosphere with a good mood. The menu is small but offers a wide selection of beautiful dishes from the region. However, we went there for lunch during peak hours and unfortunately the staff was not very welcoming (probably because it was busy) and we had to wait some time to serve (not extremely though). The food was good, but a bit cold, but the staff was understanding and really helpful. I would recommend that you try out the food, but try to come in a quiet night.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. But because of the Bastille today it was too crowded and the service was so slow and somewhat dissatisfied. The entrecôte aka steak was so terrible, I ordered “A Point” and it was boiled. The same with my friend, the beef should be “Saignant”, but it was too boiled. It was so dry and chewing. Beef does not come from France but from Germany. A bit disappointed for a French restaurant. Strange pommes. Otherwise Foie Gras is good, Melo Milo is good. The part is pretty, so we couldn't take desserts. View menu

We called in here purely by chance following a trip to Bordeaux - we liked the menu listed outside and the look and feel of the restaurant. We weren't disappointed. The food, we choose from the set menus were excellent with a great range of something for everyone. I wasn't expecting Michelin star food, but I have to say I was more than pleasantly pleased with what we were served, well cooked seasoned and presented.. The service was exceptional our waitress explained everything so well and was a credit to the restaurant nothing was too much trouble.. Happily recommend..

Just eaten in Le Chaudron, had two really good meals for €12.50 each, simply cannot beat this value in Bordeaux. I had the calamari followed by the moules with a crepe to finish, hubbys choice equally as good, with a carafe of St Etienne red and a coffee total came to €46 - wine was €20 of this! Don't understand any of the negative comments but c'est la vie! We will certainly be back - probably tomorrow night! Excellent service and very attentive waiting staff. Restaurant was very busy and we didn't expect to get a table but were shown to a table immediately, no complaints here!
