"On my first day at Carcassonne, my train got in early afternoon, I just wanted something quick to hold me over to supper. He only had one sub left in the case, chicken, so that`s what I had, to go. It was pretty good, the roll was exceptional. The next day I got there at 11:30, the owner, is friendly, and speaks very good English, was making the subs for lunch, apparently he gets maybe 18 rolls, makes the sandwiches, puts them in the case. He opens at 12:00, he said come back in 1/2 hr. There are 4 or 5 sandwiches to chose from, all in the 4-4.50euro range. I got the smoked meats sub, the fresh baked, crusty rolls are exceptional, about 10"x4", a small glass of wine was 2e., and for dessert I had the Nutella/banana crepe, it was overstuffed, every thing excellent. My total bill was 9 euro, for a filling, tasty lunch. On day 3, I had the exact same again. This is just a little lunch, snack type place, the menu was very limited, apparently the menu is a little more expanded during the busy summer months, and in the colder months, soup is on the menu. I noticed other nearby shop owners, picking up sandwiches here, that`s a good sign also."

We were wondering through Carcassonne in search of a quick sandwich and found le Chaudron Cathare. The sandwiches were surprisingly delicious and the prices good. I can attest the staff also speaks Spanish.

Nous avons fait une pause dans cet établissement , tarifs abordables , les sandwiches sont très bons et bien garnis. Le service est rapide. La terrasse est au calme. Les boissons et la bière locale sont très bonnes. Nous reviendrons.

After walking round and around Carcassonne Le Cite we found this little place. We only wanted a sandwich not a three course lunch and this suited us just right. We had paninis which were very nice and good value. The owners were friendly too.

Stopped here for lunch on a warm Thursday. It was delicious. I ordered the "Grec" which was chicken, mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil. He read was delicious, and the sandwich itself was huge. I washed it down with a delicious blanche beer, brewed in Carcassonne.

The rudest service EVER. Do yourself a favor go anywhere but here. I eat out every day for breakfast, lunch & dinner in countless cities & countries and have never experienced such a poor experience in my life. The servers on 7/14 were busy yes, but their rudeness was inexcusable. THIS PLACE DESERVES NO ONE'S BUSINESS!

Simple cafe that serves great paninis and sandwiches and lovely coffee too. There's a cute little courtyard out the back that is nice to sit in and eat your food. The staff are very friendly and it is not expensive. I think we paid 14 euro for 2 paninis, 2 waters, and 2 coffees. There is nothing I can fault with this place, C'est Super!

Walked all round La Cite...came across this little place. Offered a light lunch formule (panini or sandwich and a drink for under 7 euros). Their is no waitress service, just order at the counter. I had a ham, tomato and cheese panini, served piping hot and absolutely delicious. Sat in the shaded courtyard, behind the service desk. Allowed us to cool down on the very hot day we were there. They also do fresh crepes as well. Would go again

"Visited today for lunch after reading a recent review about the high quality of food on offer. We were not disappointed! It was superb. There were 3 choices on each of the courses with one vegan option on each course. I had chicken fricassie which was the most delicious chicken dish I've had for a very long time. The meat was so tender, it fell away from the bone; the mushroom sauce was deliciously tasty - it wasn't over seasoned. My OH had tofu wok which he really enjoyed. Both were served with rice and runner beans. The starter was a dish of 2 types of melon one of which was watermelon, with feta. We didn't think it sounded great but we were very wrong. It was served with a dash of vinaigrette made with a light oil, a tiny bit of honey and toasted flaked almonds and was surprisingly interesting. All the flavours worked so well together. For dessert OH had the cheese plate with 3 different types of cheese which he loved but it couldn't have been better than my raspberry Eaton mess which was particularly good as it wasn't overly sweet. All for €18 each AND it was all organic! We sat outside in the courtyard which was a very pleasant area. The ambiance throughout was of calm. No background music, no clattering noises or shouting from the kitchen area. It was a little oasis of refined lunchtime dining, The service was impeccable. The young man who served us was very impressive and able to tell us what ingredients were used in the vinaigrette. It goes without saying that the high standard of food and service were also reflected in the high levels of cleanliness throughout. We only wish we'd discovered this place sooner and will be back again as soon as I can trust the OH's arm"
