"We were staying in l'hotel de Hardin fe Luxembourg and this was the corner café. My wife and I had breakfast there twice (formule petit dejeuner Francais: Ueuros for coffee, fresh pressed juice and a croissant, perfectly standard price for this part of Paris), and I nipped up there for occasional espresso, so I could have a cigarette at a table outside. It is a local's establishment, not pandering to tourists, but perfectly welcoming all the same. I was comfortable there and grew to like the staff in our four-day stay. On our last night, on the way back from eating out near the Sorbonne, we stopped for a beer and the atmosphere was very pleasant and we were included in some of the badinage. In the sun, the outside tables are really nice for a quiet read, a café and a smoke. I will miss this café."

Two orders of mussels in white wine were overcooked. A steak was cool, a bit tough. Prices average. There are better places in the neighborhood. The environment was sterile, local bar-ish.

I went to this restaurant because it had a good review and I understand why. The food was good. The only thing is the waiter was absolutely unfriendly which made our experience not that great.

Lovely place, not touristic at all but you will feel here real Paris. I was here few weeks before Christmas and bar was decorated so cute, staff are friendly. Also can recommend food (beef tartar was very delicious) and desserts. Newt time in Paris will come back for sure! View menu

We ducked into this cute corner bistro twice! First, the afternoon we arrived, just for a snack -- shared a fresh green salad, bread and cheese, and drinks at this popular spot. We liked it so much, later in the week, three of us dined again -- every plate was a feast for the eyes. Great outdoor seating, and cozy indoors (during the rain). The staff are adorable and service exactly right.

Be cautious, if you are a tourist and speak English with them, you will get served a **** pot instead of a coffee. The coffee is run apparently only by two guys. I ordered a cappuccino and my partner ordered a hot chocolate. The cappuccino tasted like it was made with the same coffee grounds used for 10 other coffees while the "hot chocolate" had barely any taste at all. Both came just short of 10 euros.I'm not some pretentious git, I usually drink my coffee at Starbucks so I'm used to **** coffee, but this was horrendous. Stay well clear from these cowboys.

Fairly ordinary experience on all counts. Waiter was more interested in chatting with regulars/friends than taking care of customers. My salmon and rice was OK but salmon was a little overcooked. My husband had steak and felt it was fairly average as well. We ordered a beer to start with and would have ordered another or something else but the waiter didn't come near us again after bringing our food. Granted, it was a Monday evening and not usually a busy night anyway. However, there was absolutely no atmosphere and the big screen TV was more reminiscent of a pub - but without the atmosphere. Actually I went for the dinner in nearby restaurant. But it was too early so I decided to have a coffee and I found this place on the way. When I entered one of the guy was speaking to me in French in rude manner.I asked for the cup of coffee and he asked me white or black I told him white. He told me to take a sit in still not in a good manner but I didn't mind. But he brought the black coffee instead white. After 20 mins I ordered one Coke.He bring the Coke along with the bill once again the waiter put the bill in rude manner.I have never seen such a poor service.I won't recommend this place to any one.

This brasserie is not 'gay' in either sense of the word; in fact the server, though efficient, was rather dour and at first unwelcoming. I broke my cardinal rule of arriving for lunch at 2:30pm instead of before 12.30pm, and so I should not expect too much; but I was still surprised that the menu option for 15.00 euros was not available any longer that day, although food was available all day. So we settled for the Gay Lussac salad and the Ocean salad -- both quite good in fact. Prices are average for the immediate area. We'll try one of the other restaurants next time, where menus still seemed to be available, and people seemed to be having a 'more gay' time.
