"I ate here on a quiet Thursday evening in early May. Well the restaurant was quiet, but the street was bustling with life. A young couple run this lovely little restaurant. It served tasty food in generous portions; presented well without being fussy. For starter I had a fois gras gâteau with a sweetish fruit topping. Tasty, but a bit too large, sweet and rich for me given this was a starter and I had already enjoyed a fish pate amuse bouche when I sat down. Main course was scallops with (for second time this visit) mashed parsnips complemented with crisp fried cured ham. This was a much more delicate dish and the texture and flavours on the plate complemented each other well. I washed down starter and main with two glasses of Château Grézan rouge. Although arguably gluttonous, I selected the carpaccio of fresh fruit on a sweet pastry base and was given a free tequila based tangy fruit drink to accompany it. Total bill a touch over €40. A completely unpretentious affair, I think this was my favourite meal this visit to Montpellier ; I just wish I could have shared the experience with my partner."

Beautifully presented local french food yet original recipe. Friendly courteous service. Fairly new, this place deserves to be known better. Slightly off the beaten track, the enticing menu at a reasonable price makes it a destination not to be missed. A treat!

Small but brilliant menu. I would recommend the duck and the white chocolate and kiwi mousse. Not so keen on the terre and mer but still very nice. The chef and waiter are both very friendly. On our second visit we were given complimentary kir royale as well as breads and spreads, which was lovely. View menu

Fresh and tasty food, I really loved the presentation. The staff is really kind, the place clean. I enjoyed that could be seen what happen in the kitchen.3 main courses, 3 dessert, 2 beers 72€ + liqueur (offered)Ingredienti freschi presentati benissimo! Sempre molto cortesi e puliti. La cucina dà sulla sala ed è possibile seguire il lavoro dello chef.

From the outside this looks like a very downmarket eating place in a non-descript street within the old town of Montpellier. However, the food and service are both great. I had walked passed this earlier but then read about it on TripAdvisor. I booked on line and was so glad to have gone. The waitress was a real host. One could see into the kitchen which seemed to be calm and serene. The food coming out was beautifully presented and tasted great. Good selection of wines. Food and wine reasonably priced. Highly recommended. I would definitely come back again. Authentic cuisine.

A small restaurant run by two partners, chef and waiter, both warm, friendly, and interesting personalities. The open kitchen enables diners to watch a skilled chef in action as he prepares your wonderful meal. Several unique dishes with a strong focus on scallops and fois gras. The Terre et Mer is a fabulous composition of gently marinated raw fish and scallops accompanied by slices of sautéed fresh fois gras - a combination that works deliciously. The deboned quail a facon Rossini is another winner, but every dish is wonderful and prices are reasonable. Also, they are open Sunday night! Eclectic art, excellent music, and the Chef's comic personality all add to the delightful ambiance. €26... View menu

There are so many good places to eat in Montpellier , and while wife and I would happily wander until we found something we liked, one of the party was not so keen. Therefore I booked ahead for Le Passe Compose based on good TripAdvisor reviews. However when we got there they told us they had not accepted our booking - the weather was too hot (heatwave lucifer) and they could not keep the inside of the small restaurant cool enough for comfort. Unfortunately I'd missed the email update so was very disappointed. As it was so hot we did want to search out somewhere else, so they set us up a table with a fan and we were able to dine there after all. The food was worth the perseverance, I had bea...

We stumbled across this place by chance during a walk around the city. And we were glad we went in as it was a really nice surprise. The place is a bit quirky - but the food was fantastic. It was cutting edge cuisine with a mix of unusual flavours. For example, the main of hambur coeur decadent included avacado and wasabi, scallop, mashed apple, escalope of foie gras. The other main we had was the fish of the day, grilled and stuffed with olive paste. My starter for 5 euro was a skewer of three massive scallops in a mandarine sauce. The mains came with a side dish with carrots, courgettes and mashed potatoes with some sort of cream sauce which was delicious - normally carrots never taste of...
