"Visited Saturday 10th June 2017. Le Petit Chaudron is just outside the walls behind the train station in a quiet residential location - definitely worth the short walk of less than five minutes from the station. We arrived somewhat late in the lunch service but received a warm welcome from the owners - both the front of house lady and the chef who came out of the kitchen to greet us. The three course set menu at 21 euros had plenty of choice as did the wine list - any bottle available by the glass or carafe at reasonable cost. The help yourself buffet as a starter had a lot of choice and was delicious as was our whole sea bass main course. The home made desserts were excellent. We were the last to leave after enjoying a long chat with the hard working owners. We will be returning to this little gem on our next visit later in the year."

We had excellent time and were well entertained by the couple who own the place. Very nice house wine(local). Good food and a good value. The chestnut cake for dessert was quite special. I will go again.

Just got back after having a phenomenal dinner and dessert here. The food was delicious, and the service was responsive. It very laid back. I had the pork filet, and my wife had the sea bass. Both were well prepared, beautifully presented, and tasted fabulous!! View menu

Away from the hurly burly of the busy festival town and just around the corner from our hotel, a really nice find. Ultra friendly helpful staff, tasty and nicely presented food and good prices including an evening formule set menu price. Wines were good too. Recommended

We were greatly welcomed into the restaurant. All local ingredients cooked well. They shared their knowledge of the ingredients spending a lot of time and effort. This is just round the corner from where we were staying at the Novotel with other hotels close by. Opposite direction to the old city wall but well worth it.

I and my wife really enjoyed the adventurous and delicious food and the fact that it was in a residential area outside the walls. The couple that run it were very engaging and obliging. The wine list was extensive and inexpensive and available in glasses, carafes and full bottles. I had the rabbit stew which was succulent. View menu

We visited Le Petit Chaudron on a family weekend break and couldn't have had a better time. The owners were the friendliest, most welcoming restauranteurs I have ever met - we were there early for dinner and were the only patrons for a while. They spent a lot of time with us, giving recommendations and checking on our enjoyment. They were lovely and patient with our kids (who were acting a bit too silly!), and really made us all feel at home. The food was excellent - try the local specialties and ask for a wine recommendation. It was the best meal we had in Avignon!

Le Petit Chaudron is a bit off the beaten track but it's not much more than a couple of hundred metres outside the city walls. We were staying at the Novotel during the Festival so we welcomed the chance to try some interesting cuisine without having to brave the crowds in the city centre. We were not disappointed: the welcome was as warm as other reviews have mentioned and the food equally good. The evening menu was excellent value at €22, and both it and the fairly priced wine list concentrate on local produce as far as possible. We will certainly return on another visit to Avignon.

"I'm a regular here, and I'm not the only one lol! This place is always packed, it's both a locals haunt and a place where well-advised tourists end up. I meet my friends here, I meet my colleagues here, I meet half the town here...And it draws out the locals every evening with good reasons! So, first off: Convenience. Just on the bank of the river, this place has it's own parking.Next, atmosphere: Clean shabby chic orientated decor, open central kitchen, usually pretty crowded, Italian chef.... This place has got the atmosphere where it should be for modern tasty Italian cuisine.Service: populated by hipster and punkette style waiters and waitresses, they might not be warm nor welcoming, but they polite and competent. The service is prompt and the wine suggestions correct.Food: my FAVOURITE part! I love Italian, and I just appreciate a place that does it right so much! Simple, clean, modern and tasty!Their pizzas are beyond a doubt the best in the region, special mention for the Bianca and the Cosi. Their pasta is mouth watering. But I always find the best on their menu to be their dish of the day (for example duck filet with apricots, tuna steak with Italian sauce, roast filet mignon...) and their veal schnitzel. In fact I am a regular to this place almost solely because of their veal schnitzel. Just gorgeous!Oh and their desserts.... Are just delicious, special mention for the raspberry-lemon-white chocolate parfait!Once again, this is not a budget eat-all-you-can low end pizzeria. The prices are midrange. But the cuisine is authentic and impeccable, the setting very pleasant, and it is definitely a place you will come back to after trying it once."
