"This is a smart restaurant with friendly staff, slightly up-market but a little bit expensive for the standard of the food, which was good but not spectacular. We enjoyed our meal, but a botch-up with our understanding of French got us off to a bit of a bad start! There were two starters – one we understood was a terrine, although it was confusing as to whether it was rabbit or veal, or maybe both. Whatever it was, it was OK but a bit fatty. The other starter, due to a misunderstanding, we thought was cheese and tomato (so we assumed a mozzarella and tomato type salad but turned out to be pig head in jelly (Fromage du Tete NOT Fromage et tomate!! . I am sure it was very nice, if you like that sort of thing! I thought it was strange to have two such similar items on as starters when there is only a choice of two. For main course we had peppered steak and fish in white sauce, both served with mashed potatoes but no veg (what is it the French have got against veg?? and whilst the food was nice the portions weren’t very big. The crème caramel for dessert was again OK but nothing to really rave over. A nice enough meal, but pricey, and not a restaurant we’d really rush back to."

The restaurant le Saint Julien is an excellent restaurant. Very good reception, impeccable service. As for the cook: bravo. It's good to see restaurants worthy of this name, a real French cuisine today.

Top menu, we came in two evenings. Excellent dishes and great reception, the service is very professional and very good advice. For the moment the foie gras with Reims pink biscuit... a killing. To recommend without hesitation

Superb table, wild boar terrine and beef play were exceptional, the rest was really excellent, from dessert entries! The reception is extremely friendly, the restaurant is held by the boss and his wife Virginie, so the service is at the top, what a pleasure! To be recommended without moderation

Went with my wife and 5 month old daughter (she didnt eat here! . We wanted a good lunch rather than going out later for dinner with all the child minding problems. The price for a 3 course lunch was £16. this place has a chef rather than a cook, the local business people use this for lunch. Their wine menu, even house wine at £5, is top notch. We had the steak as a special, a bit chewey in places but had seen prcing just for a steak course in the town at £20+.
