"Superb location with wonderful view of the boats in the port, and view of the rest of Paimpol. L'Ecluse means the Lock and the restaurant is right next to the lock entering the protected part of the port, so you may have the opportunity to see a boat coming through the lock. Fantastic food and good friendly service. My husband was taught to put ginger in his pepper sauces in future. Good choice of menus at various prices. Plenty of options for both fish lovers and meat lovers. Menus feature seafood, duck, steak. This restaurant gives you the chance to dress up a bit, so different from the rest of Brittany where casual is the norm. It is a restaurant for epicureans rather than fast food lovers. My husband and I chose the menu at 26 euros which like all other menus comprised 3 courses. You could also eat a la carte. For my starter I had a casolette of fruits de mer seafood gratin of prawns, squid and mussels delicious. My husband had a plateau of fruits de mer all sorts of seafood; oysters, prawns, winkles, bulots and clams which was beautifully presented and very filling. We had the wine of the month which was a white Touraine Sauvignon. For my main course I enjoyed fillet of St Pierre (John Dory) fish with the familiar thumb print of St Peter, in a butter sauce with vegetables. My husband had steak and chips with a pepper sauce. These were both delicious. There was a great choice of desserts including a dessert of the day which was ile flottant, and the one I chose was profiteroles filled with pistachio ice cream with a sauce of caramel beurre sale (salted butter caramel). This was followed by coffee. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and cannot think of anything to complain about and I am looking forward to visiting the restaurant again."

Menu - 3 options

10 minute walk around the harbour from main group of restaurants. Outside seating rather drab but inside very attractive and comfortable. A little disappointed that as a couple we were not allowed to sit at window tables which were set up for 4 people. Food was varied and well presented.

terrible experience. after a good appetizer, the main dish was overcooked and clearly not fresh fish. forget about the service, it takes hours for anything (and we were there quite late, only a few tables were left). the odd one out of paimpol, a wonderful city we enjoyed so much with wonderful restaurants and nice people.

Our host at our holiday accommodation recommended this family run restaurant and booked for us for a Friday evening. Being on the quayside, the menu has a good proportion of fish dishes, although there are alternatives if you want something else. The restaurant is accessible for wheelchair users and the hosts were very accommodating in helping our disabled friend. There were three set menus with various choices in each at very reasonable prices+ al la carte and choices of the day. We had four three course meals, with beers for around €130. The service, like the food, was excellent, although the place was quite quiet for a Friday, but as other reviewers have said, its away from the town centr...

At the far side of Paimpol harbour there is the restaurant L'ecluse-aptly named as it overlooks the canal that allows access to the port. Most people probably won't bother to walk this far so it was fairly quiet on both our visits. The fish soup at €10 was fine. There is also plenty of choice of other seafood. On our first visit we had the bream John Dory respectively. In both dishes the fish was poached served with a cider butter. The fish was very moist tasty accompanied by a medley of veg a very delicious half jacket potato with a dollop of cream with chives. Latterly we tried the pork fillet with a green pepper sauce. I can't remember the last time I have tasted pork so good-a crispy out...

Sadly one of the four of us was ill, which was very disappointing, but the three of us went anyhow, explaining the situation... We were warmly and sympathetically welcomed, and shown to a table by the window. The menu was extensive, with a varied prices, plus there were some 'suggestions for the day '. The service was excellent, our drinks order was taken efficiently and served quickly. One of us chose from the 'specials suggestions ' one had mussels, one had lamb..... Agreed there was a wait, but only confirmed the food was cooked to order and fresh... The bread came with butter.....and was delicious. The dessert menu is very tempting, two had banana splits, and one creme brulee. Two had cof...

"A thousand thanks to his husband and his team. A favor! we spent 6 nights in 1/2 board in the upper room with sea view. price challenging all competitions for such beautiful proposals. beautiful family-run hotel, located in a relaxing place, close to the small port and hiking trails; a small paimpol road, cyclical overheating, rocky coasts or wonderful cities. the common rooms are beautifully decorated in blue grey, without excessive overload. our room decorated simply, comfortable and very clean – spacious bathroom with bathtub but also bathrobe and slippers! the first contact on the phone the desire to get there. throughout our stay, the very friendly, attentive, warm, in small care, good advice for the discovery of the region – meteo obliges in March! all staff are in their image, friendly and effective. for restoration, we trusted the daily half board proposals. short and wine dishes, which is a good sign. simple but refined cuisine, well represented dishes, fresh products according to the market of the day. so every day a new proposal from the entrance to the dessert. essentially the fish and seafood for us (langoustines, hairdressing shells, bar, etc. to the perfect and wonderfully cooked kitchen.) we have just been filled! and then the buffet breakfast: copious, offering salt-sucrea. with delicious hot pancakes made by the boss! Sunday evening and Monday evening, restaurant closure. we continued our 1⁄2 pension at the "kerroch Farm" the second restaurant of the hotel, two minutes by car. old rustic inn. the chef offers "côté de la terre" dishes including bovine meat cooked in the fireplace with potatoes under the ash! comments on the site. Yes, we'll go back to your place."
