"We arrived just after 10pm this evening, needing a meal on a holiday evening. We thought that we'd be eating pizza on a corner somewhere, or maybe a croquet monsieur, but the incredibly kind and gracious hosts at L'Olivier Rouge said, "4 people for dinner? Certainly." This is what we love about French small town cooking: it is scrumptious and first rate even at the end of a long night when everyone else is closing. Our hosts here were gracious and lovely and welcoming. They sat us in their courtyard by the old olive tree and served us a great wine, accompanied by wonderful olives and tapenade. We rolled into lamb and chicken and delicately spiced meatballs and couscous--all sorts of North African subtlety that was at once French and also tasted of Tangiers. Our daughter ordered a smashing chocolate mousse, and we finished the evening with mint tea that I'll fall asleep thinking about--the meal was that homey and good. Don't hesitate to try L'Olivier Rouge. Kim and his wife are everything they are cracked up to be."

The cook/owner has great taste of not only food, but also beauty. We love the food he recommended: vegetarian salad and fish. It is definitely a must in Avignon villeneuve. Take bus line 5 to Office de Tourisme.

Cute little place in the corner with lovely olive tree in court. Older couple run he cooks everything and he speaks English and is quite friendly. Had a mixed Mediterranean salad plate and every scoop of different salad was delightful! Give it a try!

What a surprise this restaurant has discovered by chance. the plate is delicious and subtle in the eastern inspiration. The decor is very nice. When to the chief and his charming wife, they add the last note, which makes this place a magic, to discover absolutely! a happy address like we love them! View menu

Charming patron and patronne who bring style and good food to this central location. A goats cheese and grapefruit salad was fresh, utterly delicious and beautifully played out. There was however a general lack of understanding as to the importance of one salad being gluten free for a diner with coeliac disease but the situation was remedied with grace and charm.

"I'm a regular here, and I'm not the only one lol! This place is always packed, it's both a locals haunt and a place where well-advised tourists end up. I meet my friends here, I meet my colleagues here, I meet half the town here...And it draws out the locals every evening with good reasons! So, first off: Convenience. Just on the bank of the river, this place has it's own parking.Next, atmosphere: Clean shabby chic orientated decor, open central kitchen, usually pretty crowded, Italian chef.... This place has got the atmosphere where it should be for modern tasty Italian cuisine.Service: populated by hipster and punkette style waiters and waitresses, they might not be warm nor welcoming, but they polite and competent. The service is prompt and the wine suggestions correct.Food: my FAVOURITE part! I love Italian, and I just appreciate a place that does it right so much! Simple, clean, modern and tasty!Their pizzas are beyond a doubt the best in the region, special mention for the Bianca and the Cosi. Their pasta is mouth watering. But I always find the best on their menu to be their dish of the day (for example duck filet with apricots, tuna steak with Italian sauce, roast filet mignon...) and their veal schnitzel. In fact I am a regular to this place almost solely because of their veal schnitzel. Just gorgeous!Oh and their desserts.... Are just delicious, special mention for the raspberry-lemon-white chocolate parfait!Once again, this is not a budget eat-all-you-can low end pizzeria. The prices are midrange. But the cuisine is authentic and impeccable, the setting very pleasant, and it is definitely a place you will come back to after trying it once."
