"We had a wide variety of vegan cake options available at this restaurant today. There was a delicious chocolate layer cake, lemon cake, fruitcake with the choice of coconut cream, vegan scones with currants (also available as part of a vegan cream tea), and a vegan banana dessert. They also offered a choice of soy, almond or coconut milk for coffee or tea. I particularly enjoyed the peanut butter chocolate cake, as the sponge was very good and the taste was delicious. I would highly recommend it. The lemon cake was also very tasty. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was lovely. The restaurant usually offers vegan breakfast options, and I am not sure when they stop serving them. Hopefully, they will have more lunch options soon, but for now, they have a simple sandwich available. The location is beautiful, with a view of greenery, outdoor seating, and easy (and free) parking. This place is also a small deli and post office, making it a convenient stop for refreshments and picking up fresh bread when sending a package."

We love eating out. Last night we arrived in this fine restaurant which friends told us about. We passed a beautiful time there with superb dishes and a professional team and an impressive cook. We put this venue in our list and we shall definitely visit again very soon. We deeply recommend.

what a beautiful jewel, hidden by a village green. very friendly and chatting staff. there are vegan items on the menu and also a selection of vegan bakery items. the place itself is cozy with tables both inside and outside and much parking space. would not hesitate to go back, loved everything about it.

This restaurant, located on the outskirts, is a gem for vegetarians and vegans. The staff, including the owners, are extremely friendly and eager to hear feedback. The manager, who is vegan, heavily influences the menu offerings. They offer two milk options for coffee, delicious vegan and gluten-free brunch choices, and even had cakes available during our visit. It was a pleasant surprise! View menu

Our first trip here and it won’t be our last. The wife booked a table today for the last day of my paternity and it was just perfect. Food was fantastic .... actually more than fantastic! I had the club sandwich which blew my taste buds and my wife had avocado on toast with egg. Tea was lovely and orange juice was great. Well priced, lovely staff. Wish you all the best in the coming weeks and can’t wait to walk through your doors again. Ps they’re open for takeaway and delivery in a 3 mile radius!

This restaurant review is a mix of positive and negative feedback. On the positive side, the reviewer mentions that they appreciate the vegan options available at the restaurant and plan to come back to support this initiative. They also praise the friendly table service and pleasant environment outside. However, they were disappointed when they were unable to order a vegan cake as the vegan cook was on vacation. The staff offered a gluten-free option instead, showing a lack of understanding of the vegan diet. The reviewer suggests that staff could benefit from some training on veganism to avoid such situations in the future. They also mention a mix-up with their soy hot chocolate, which con...

"I visited my elderly Mum today, she suggested going to the Derby Arms for a roast dinner as she'd eaten there recently with my sister. However they were fully booked, so I looked online and found Galu. The reviews were great and my Mum has only ever heard good things from friends and neighbours. So I called and booked for 12:45 Sunday 21st Jan 2024. We were both pleasantly surprised to see roast dinners on the menu ... Mum order lamb and I ordered beef part of their set menu. When the dinners arrived, you could see straight away that the lamb was Very Fatty (not even crispy) when my my tried eating it, it was both tough and chewy! As for the beef, this was cooked ok and edible, although I asked for the beef to be medium, but it was more well done. The waiter came over to ask if the meal was ok, I highlighted how the lamb was... the manager then came over and offered my Mum a slice of beef to compensate, bearing in mind she ordered lamb. Mum subsequently found that some of her roast potatoes were hard inside! I finished my meal, but could see Mum really didn't enjoy hers leaving a substantial amount on her plate, and having tried her lamb it really was inedible! We were then offered a full list of desserts rather than the set menu, having chocolate brownie and creme brûlée (both were gorgeous) When the bill arrived, I was hoping they would have somehow made amends, but alas no ... as Mum doesn't like to cause a fuss and it was her treat, I decided not to say anything, although the staff manager could tell we weren't happy. Having come from East Sussex for the day and regularly have great Sunday roasts in local pubs, I was hoping for something special in this restaurant, but sadly that wasn't the case. In fact it's probably one of the worst roast dinners I've had in a long time. I very much doubt we'll return ..."
