"Four of us ate here on Saturday 18th June at 7.30 Pm. Our friends who have a house in Porlock booked it. The Hotel restaurant is very nice with a lovely atmosphere.it has a very cosy feel and the restaurant has a modern twist. The service was fantastic and the staff very friendly. The food was exceptional. All beautifully cooked and presented and very reasonably priced considering the quality. The only disappointment was that they don’t open on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evening as my wife and I wanted to come back again. Unfortunately we’re only staying inPorlock till Wednesday, so will have to wait a few months until we’re down again. Great place, great food ! Would highly recommend."

Called in on the off chance one morning and sat out in the courtyard. Lovely choice of breakfast with the bonus of drinks, cereal, fresh fruit and toast. Breakfasts all delicious , staff were very friendly and helpful and the whole meal was great value. View menu

Booked us in at short notice. Swift service, and the mains in particular were both superb. Pudding wasn't quite so good but pleasant enough. The restaurant and bar look recently renovated and have been done nicely. Well priced (possibly they should charge more for the mains! , nice ambiance, would definitely visit again.

Lovely looking place, friendly staff. The food was mostly very good, all 3 courses. My other half couldn’t fault his burger, which is rather rare! The only comment I would have is that my broccoli was somewhat over cooked (might be personal preference though) and the shoulder of lamb was very dry. We’ve tried 3 places in Porlock and this was by far the best.

We called in for a drink one evening when camping near Porlock and thought it was lovely, so booked a table for another night (as they were full). We had an excellent meal, with very good wines and great service. Fish starters and mains were delicious, followed by beautiful homemade pudding and cheese biscuits. We had a really nice chat with the owners and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. We would definitely go again if we are in the area. View menu

Located in the centre of Porlock, with a calm and relaxing feel. The food menu offers an interesting range of dishes with different influences. A modest wine list and bottled beers are stocked. Our food arrived very nicely presented, perfectly cooked, and was delicious with well judged flavour combinations. Prices are very competitive and service very good, both polite and efficient. Almost a 5* review, just held back with the limited drinks choices.

Attractive interior hosts very welcoming and accommodating. We enjoyed a relaxing drink on comfortable sofas in the bar area. The menu had a good selection in fact so good that we immediately asked if we could book for the following night before making our selection. We weren’t disappointed the food was delicious. And we finished with the cheese board a good selection of 3 local cheeses and accompaniments. The lamb 3 ways was our choice the following night and didn’t disappoint. Thank you so much

"Yet again we needed to celebrate having resolved a long standing technical problem. The pub in Brompton Regis came up in discussion the evening before when our neighbour was around for a glass of wine. He said that before coming to our village he’d looked at houses in Brompton Regis. He left and we booked a table. Friday was a damp day but we were not deterred as we drove up into the Brendon Hills, usually distant views greet one but this day the clouds were dominant. However as we descended from Roborough Gate towards Wimbleball Lake we could turn off the wipers. By the time we crossed the bridge at the top of the lake a shaft of sun broke through and sparkled across the surface of the water whilst light wisps of mist kissed the shore line. Rounding the churchyard wall always raises our expectations for there is the George Inn. The bar door was hardly open before Tash, a beaming smile, greeted us with a price board for ‘COFFEE’. I said in my previous review that I wouldn’t mention coffee at the George again, sorry, but I must. The coffee machine had arrived the day before. Well done Tripadvisor the George! We had a wonderful starter of Baba Ganoush, new to the menu that day. It was exceptionally good with delicate flavour. Following on was chicken breast and pasta with tomato sauce, again great flavour though my wife found it a little too greasy. My Bengal curry was fantastic and a most generous serving. Our ‘Desert,’sic, was Chocolate Ganache with pistachio ice cream under crunched nuts. I had the steamed maple syrup pudding set in a delicious whisky sauce, a very delicate and light texture, just right to finish on after the curry! Of course we had our long awaited espressos from the new device, a delicious finale to our meal. Earlier in walkers had dropped in wanting a coffee. Now all on Exmoor should be heading to the George for their ‘hit’."
