Luck Penny - Menu

We are locals and visit here often, the food is excellent, the staff are friendly. We have visited other local food venues and this is our favourite.

The menu is not vast but the quality, quantity and value are excellent. Food was received with a warning! Very hot, it was! Service was excellent. Will be back.

Dropped in by chance as never visited and was delighted by the quality of the food. Rib eye steak was of great quality and cooked perfectly. Possibly the nicest stilton sauce I've had for a while. The pub was spotlessly clean and the couple who run it were really nice people who clearly work hard and run a good pub. I will be using it more often . Good , reasonably priced unfussy food.

Visited today for Sunday lunch it was very busy with a christening on, but they made room for Sunday diners. I had beef dinner, hubby turkey and autistic son mash and gravy. Food promptly arrived, fresh hot and beef gorgeous as was the turkey. Staff checked on our meals. The buffet for the christening looked amazing!! Only 3 bar staff but worked well as a team, for the meals, buffet and bar. Great value for money for home cooked food, will definitely return.

Booked a table for a work Christmas Lunch. Nothing was too much trouble for Management Michelle Mark they even adjusted the menu slightly as member person doesn't eat roast dinners. Our meal was fantastic, great value for money we were very well looked after. Just the right portions, nice hot space in between (without being too long a break} to ensure that we weren't over full. A big thank you congratulations to you for such a superb job certainly highly recommended for next Christmas.

Ollie/Oliver is an absolute legend! The customer service here is exceptional and really made our night. I love going to pubs where they make you feel welcome. Ollie went above and beyond for both my family and a larger group. I can't express enough how impressed we were with Oliver. We've received a lot of positive feedback about him, and he definitely deserves a bonus after tonight. I have never experienced such amazing customer service before. Well done Ollie, from Liam who kept asking for pink milkshakes all night! You're a legend.

We visited the Luck Penny on Thursday evening last week. The lounge was welcoming and nicely decorated for Christmas. We went quite early, around 6 o'clock, there were a lot of people in the bar but no-one in the lounge which was a shame as we were really impressed by the food we were served. My partner had the lambs liver on mustard mash which he said was really good and my sister and I had chicken with stilton sauce, which was delicious. The veg that came with the dishes was cooked just right and the chicken dishes came with chips. The food was really good value for money.

If your trying to find a nice pub, where they do Sunday dinner and they do proper food not microwave ping food, the Luck Penny is the place to go. The pub has such a nice relaxing atmosphere to just sit and have a drink in and when the food is delivered to your table it looks so delicious and it tastes as good as it looks. We had the Sunday roast with so many different vegetables and the beef and pork was cooked to perfection excellent food and efficient service would recommend this place to anyone trying to find a homecooked meal with all the trimmings and friendly service.

The service was extremely slow today, taking 2 hours to receive a starter and main meal. By the time the food arrived, I no longer wanted it and found it to taste horrible. The cottage pie was overwhelmingly covered in cheese, which was not to my liking. In order to not upset my 85-year-old mother, who was dining out for the first time in 6 months, I politely left after she finished her meal. I do not plan on returning to this restaurant as the staff never checked on us or offered us more drinks. Additionally, no contact information was collected in case we needed to be contacted due to COVID regulations. Overall, the service was poor.
