"We have been eating at Mama Mia's for many years. Arrived last night with our friends for a birthday celebration dinner. We were given a table upstairs in a dark corner, at the very back of the restaurant. The service was disgusting, each course took an age to arrive. When the mains eventually did turn up, they brought cutlery for everyone except me, I asked for a fork, was told someone would bring one, five minutes later, after I found the parmesan myself and gave everyone some, the waitress came back with her giant pepper grinder, and walked around the table asking if anyone wanted pepper (they were all halfway through their food) i said no but i do want a fork, she snapped at me that she thought someone had brought me one and disappeared. Another few minutes later she turned up with one so I could eat my now cold meal. Another waitress turned up at my shoulder and with a huge amount of attitude snapped she was sorry about the fork. I told her she didn't seem sorry, in fact she didn't seem to care. Worst service we have ever received at any restaurant ever. Both waitresses were short with dark hair. The one with the accent in particular needs to be sacked! We will never go back and will tell all of our friends the same. Avoid this place."

Great food and good value. All the family enjoyed our meals, Even though it was midweek it was full and needed to book to ensure a table. I had the pate which was excellent followed by a lovely lasagna.

A wonderful evening with family and excellent food. When family live overseas it's not often we can be together, so it's always special when we are, so when the staff surprised us with ice-cream and a candle for my daughter's who were celebrating a belated birthday it was lovely and so thoughtful. Thank you so much for making our evening special View menu

This charming, family-owned pizzeria is located on Lord Street. We recently celebrated my daughter's birthday here and were very impressed. The service was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive, creating a lovely atmosphere. The food was exceptional - we enjoyed a variety of starters, pizzas, pasta, and the chicken milanese. Everything was delicious. The staff went out of their way to make my daughter feel special, even coordinating a surprise birthday song from the entire restaurant. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Upon arriving in Southport on a cold, dark winter evening, three girls from Manchester spotted the lights shining from Mamma Mia on Lord Street. Despite the late hour (only 8:30pm), they were unsure if they could find a restaurant still open. The only downside was feeling uncomfortable asking for a table, which is why I'm rating it 4 stars instead of 5. However, we quickly made our choices and the waiter was incredibly kind and lovely, although we didn't catch his name. The food was absolutely divine and the service was perfect. The only slight letdown was the front of house, sorry for the inconvenience.

We have had dinn er many times over last 30 years and always great food. Today (28/12/23) we had lunch with friends who travelled from Liverpool. Service was very poor, we had to ask for a waiter to take our food order and remind staff we had ordered coffees. My husband was so looking forward to his duck in orange sauce but after a long wait it arrived cremated. The meat below the blackened skin was tasty but did have a burnt taste from the skin. After mentioning this to the waiter he offered to cook a new one but that would have taken another 30 minutes. Overall very disappointing and will not return for lunch. View menu

Terrible service. We came to this restaurant tonight to celebrate our anniversary, as we have done many times before. We had a reservation but were seated at a table in the far corner where a staff member was casually eating dinner with their feet up on a chair, scrolling through Facebook. When we sat down, I discovered a large piece of chewing gum stuck under the table. We asked to move to a different table but no one came to assist us. When we mentioned the issue to a young waitress with shoulder-length dark hair, she simply shrugged her shoulders. The service was absolutely unacceptable, so we left without placing an order. We are regular customers who were very disappointed and do not pl...

Poor service, average food. The restaurant is so noisy. We were a round table of 5. It was impossible to have a conversation with my family. Carpaccio starter was dry and tough. The prawn and salad starter contained hardly any salad. The pizzas were all lacking in flavour think the dough needs salt) and they were quite biscuity. We were expecting a more authentic Italian style base. Toppings were nice. We were told that my husband had to drink his Peroni out of the bottle because the had “run out of glasses”. Are they for real?! We were sitting very close to other table and a rude man kept pushing my son’s chair. Staff were oblivious. We would have had a desert, but the service was so poor t...

"Friday night is busy for most, I 'm sure. Appalled by the service in all honesty. Staff seem smug and unattentive. It 's too much trouble to tend your (paying) needs. To be fair.. I am mostly speaking of one particular staff member, but it appears he is the manager/lead server. I can 't differentiate as there were no introductions.. I 'm not bothered about that; necessarily, I 'm trying to stay mutual, but last night, I was so disappointed. Staff leaning over you to take plates without communication of their intentions. I 'm wondering what this place is trying to be, fine dining, or just a typical restaurant.. their attitudes claim they are of the finer sort (including the prices) Poppadoms are made to seem complimentary as you wait. But don 't worry, they will charge you.. there 's a real lack of transparency and connection between customers/staff.. I did enjoy the food somewhat, but It wasn 't brilliant.. I 've had better at the local indian takeaway, in all honesty. The receipt was confusing too (party of 10) It was very difficult to figure out the full costs per person as it was all mixed up. Whilst trying to calculate the costs per individual said staff member was hovering around and made it seem such an inconvenience, and we felt rushed. I believe I am very fair and I always give people multiple chances, but his service was unacceptable... everything was a problem for him. Perhaps it 's a difference of cultures, however, having travelled the world to a a varying degree I have never felt this way, most places have made me feel welcome and this one of the reviews I have left feeling so strongly about it. Every person of the party has shared the same view, so I am not only speaking for myself. He delegated as to how much rice or sides we should have 'as he had accounted for it all ' Which leads me to believe they are aiming for a more prestigious type establishment.. There are very few places that offer THAT type experience in Southport.. and this is not the place. I don 't want to appear angry as I enjoy experiencing all types of food/environments etc etc. But this wasn 't the experience I was led to expect. I haven 't contacted the restaurant yet, but I don 't even know if anything I say (in regards to this visit) will have any effect on their future projections. I hope it was just a busy day, and they were a bit troubled with what was going on.. if that is the case, I will 100% give them another chance and hope that they can treat whomever may enter their restaurant in a manner of which is exciting and enjoyable. After further inspection of the final bill, there were extra items added on said waiter had 'accounted ' for what we required, yet we had far too much rice and other various sides. For example.. if you order 4 beers, it should state 4x beers, But they seem to work it: 1x beer, 1 x rice , 1 x beer, 1x rice, 1x beer, etc etc (for example) Even though we ordered drinks initially, which should all be counted in chronological order. I still have the receipt but didn 't want to post a picture as I 'm sure I have said enough to give a little embarrassment. We were very disappointed and haven 't stopped talking about it since. Don 't have such high expectations and you won 't be disappointed.
