"Always come here for lunch when visiting Truro, as usually such a lovely atmosphere, very efficient staff and excellent food. Was a little disappointed this time however. I waited by the entrance to the restaurant, as instructed, however was ignored by the staff for over 5 mins before being welcomed. I do appreciate that the staff were busy, however, one of the staff was preparing drinks at the bar and didn't even acknowledge us by saying, someone will be with you in a moment. This is surely common practice and helps to appease you when having to wait. We were eventually seated and placed our drinks orders. During that time two other tables arrived and they were actually served before us for their drinks and food! The food was ok but not up to their usual high standard. Prices aren't cheap but you don't mind if the quality of the food is good and the service effficient. Almost felt as if they don't really care anymore! Will be trying somewhere else in the future."

I had the Steak meal which was delicious but I only had a small portion of Chips with it. I did expect something else on my plate, like peas or tomato, or salad. Quite a flimsy meal, by the way. If you are hungry after that, there is a 'Spoons ' over the way.

Waitress forgot to ask for drinks, then forgot to bring said drinks. Waitress didn’t take order for one member of the party to had to ask before she left. Steak poorly seasoned, no option given for how it was cooked (medium, rare or well done). Nor was options offered for extras. Steak will go home to the dog as i have paid for it

Choose to go back to this restaurant for my birthday meal,my favourite in Truro. Was welcomed and asked if I would like a glass of Prosecco, the food I chose was lovely, best tempura prawns I have had in a restaurant,crispy beef was so delicious. The service was efficient and unobtrusive,the atmosphere was great. Will definitely revisit when back in the area.

Mannings was always my favourite place to eat. Last year my meal was incredible, but my recent meal was uninspiring. The pork bites that were served as a small plate were tasty, but the main was not. The menu has changed, removing all my previous first, second or third choices. I chose the Cornish chicken but not being a fan of mash (pomme puree) or truffle , I opted for chips. The chicken suprene was tiny, but I couldn't manage it all as it was so dry, and lacking flavour/seasoning. The sauce/gravy? was luke warm, and not much different when it came back having requested it hotter. It contained some dried up old peas, but no flavour!
