"came by chance over this place while they look at shrewsbury market. that is a big market, despite the uncompromising external appearance. there are some interesting places to eat on the market, but so pleased we have to eat here. we shared a plate of grilled garnels to begin that were delicious. then I had the duck red curry. beautiful. we ate at some good places while we were on shrewsbury, but this small market place food stable was my favorite. also a good value and a very efficient service by super friendly staff. I will visit shrewsbury again to try something else from the menu."

The waitress who served us was excellent. She asked all the right questions and was very knowledgeable about the menu. We only had a few small dishes, but they were all delicious, fresh, and aromatic. The Noodle Soup, in particular, was outstanding.

Really nice Thai. We had the pad thai, beef in oyster sauce and satays (lovely peanut sauce, would have happily had a big bowl of just that and rice). Obviously popular as the staff all seemed really busy, be warned cash only (we had to cut down on what we ordered as didn't have enough cash to really go nuts).

beautiful small place, good food at a good price. had delicious spicy bark noodles and an americano and they were both great. I have a whole bowl of noodles with decent pieces of bark hidden below. the service was somewhat slow, but it was expected with the amount of people, but the service was friendly and welcoming.

Delicious authentic Thai food served by lovely, friendly staff! Since lockdown has stopped us from sitting in the lovely Market Hall we have been taking out favourite Thai to the Quarry and it's been the perfect picnic food, with recyclable cutlery too! We just wish they were open on an evening so we could get them on Deliveroo!

I had the pleasure of dining at this charming family-run restaurant, and I must say, it was an absolute delight. Every dish we tried was incredibly fresh and bursting with delicious flavours. It's hands down the best Thai restaurant in Shrewsbury. My only small disappointment was the inability to make reservations, as it can be quite challenging to secure a table due to its popularity.

best Thai menu I had in very long time. it is a small place in the interior market, but I would highly recommend it. it is much better than any other Thai restaurant I was. very shocked how delicious the meal was and how fast the meal was ready. the service was fantastic. very friendly staff. really impressed and next time I am in the city center of shrewsbury, definitiw will come back.

the house of yum is known in shrewsbury, but not on any radar. that should be it! great Thai food in a 'treet food' style area of the market hall. eating was absolutely top notch today. I am a great fan of Asian food, but rarely eat thai home and am unfamiliar with restaurant thai eating in england so much. the house of yum good is just so good if not better than dishes I enjoyed all over the world. Super

Without doubt the best Thai food I have ever tasted. Very friendly staff. I eat there at least once a week spending £15+ including starter and have been for three years. Chef will make you anything that's not on the menu. I challenge the one star review and have no hesitation in saying the review is nonsense at best. I have eaten everywhere in Shrewsbury and the House of Yum ties in first place with another. I recommend it without reservation.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
