"Once a month we have a Mr Cod takeaway when we don't fancy cooking! We've never had a bad meal from here. Right opposite the bus station, it's in a real central spot. I always have the 3 pieces of fried chicken and chips. Hot, juicy, well seasoned pieces of chicken, and the chips are proper chunky and salted. Hubby always has the spicy chicken burger and chips, he says it's the best chicken burger in town. And he knows his burgers! Also their spicy chicken pieces are delish! They supply plastic forks and lemon wipes with your takeaway and in the summer we drive to hughenden park or up to the golden ball to eat it. Parking is an issue but one of you goes in and the other can drive around the block. Traffic wardens round there are ruthless!!"

The food was terrible. Fish was drenched in oil. Chips looked a week old. I would definitely not recommend them.

Ordered fried chicken and chips a few days ago, next day I was sick, would not recommend. Was busy so I thought It would be good. Will never eat here again

I am very lucky I just around the corner from mr cod. I have been coming here past 14 years now. Its always busy on Fridays and Saturdays. I like there chips freshly cooked in front of you. Happy staff.

I asked a friend whether Mr. Cod sold scampi and her answer was, “of course they do, all fish chip shops sell scampi.” Sadly, when I looked at the menu on their wall I found they sell “scabby”. Definitely not for me!

The best chicken burgers in the area the masala fish is also spot on! Been going for a long time and always consistent. Only downside is you have to pay extra now for a Rubicon drink and extra for the dips ... mild chilli sauce is tasty and compliments the chips and chicken dippers well. The owner is nice chap and always greets with a smile

I ordered Fish and a small chips. They re-fried re-warmed the chips which had been standing on the side in a frying basket. I sat in my car to eat them and the chips were the worst I have had in years. I couldn't tell what kind of fish it was but it was awful as well. I had to throw the fish away as I couldn't stomach it. Hard in places and soggy mush in others. Just terrible!
