"Muffins is a well kept local secret! What a super place for lunch with friends. I have eaten here many times and it has never disappointed. It is advisable to book a table for lunch as it gets very busy. The choice of things to eat are more or less on a theme of sandwiches, paninis, soup or quiche and salad and deep fried brie. There are lots of cakes to choose from and many different kinds of drinks to choose from too. Apart from the food, this village cafe has a wonderful gift shop with cards, candles, reed diffusers and jewellery. There are also clothes, scarves and other items for sale, all at very reasonable prices. Especially good at Christmas time. The staff are attentive and friendly too. A lovely experience!"

The wine was enjoyable, but I was surprised to see sexually explicit greeting cards on display, which seemed inappropriate for a family-friendly atmosphere.

A very nice place with outdoor seating as well as indoor. We had a hot chocolate and a pot of tea which came to just under £5, so not too bad really. Friendly staff and again a well kept premises.

Visited muffins before starting to walk a section of Weald Way. The tables were clean. We were served quickly, tea and coffee good. The cake was mass produced. We felt it was overpriced. I think the owners would like to attract ladies who lunch , rather than walkers

We stopped here around 11:30am on a Thursday, intending to have coffee and a cake. Most of the tables were already booked for lunch. In the end, we were so taken with the place, we stopped for coffee and lunch. Absolutely excellent food. Would certainly recommend to anyone.

This adorable shop/cafe has a good range of very tasty lunch options and a good selection of soft and alcoholic drinks, very friendly staff and a lovely selection of goods to browse (and purchase) either before or after you dine, I’d highly recommend the Brie and bacon panini which has a very generous level of filling.

What a popular venue! And such a nice relaxed atmosphere in this pretty little cafe and gift/ladies wear shop in the village. The two lovely ladies who run it are very efficient and food came to us quickly after ordering (Kitchen is open to the restaurant and looks immaculate). Simple but tasty menu and lovely cakes! Very popular with ‘ladies who lunch’ as it’s such a nice straightforward place to meet with friends. It is licenced if you want a glass of wine but their other beverages are plentiful. Nice.

Popped into Muffins for a little Birthday coffee and cake with a few fiends. Used to come here all the time when my kids went to a local Montessori school nearby but haven’t been for a while. It was so lovely to be back in the familiarly lovely surroundings with fabulous coffee, delicious homemade cakes and friendly service. There’s a huge selection of beautiful gifts to browse from scarves and jewellery to candles and quirky lights. Hilariously funny greetings cards not for the shy or prude !! and a warm cosy wood burner on chilly spring days like the one when we visited. This place is a real gem and could not come more highly recommended. They do fabulous lunches and afternoon teas too !

Came to Muffins for the first time today. After a run with my friend. I can only assume the woman at the counter judged me on my appearance because all I got was an unwelcoming filthy looks. I watched her serve other people and act completely different. Maybe because I wasn’t local or didn’t speak in a certain way or was in my 20s? When paying for our brunch I looked up to her GLARING at me once again, it actually slightly amused me as just because I am in tracksuit bottoms and a hoody does not mean she should be looking at me like I haven’t got a right to be there, apologise that I seemed to look of lower class. Will not be spending a penny more of my 30k salary at this establishment ever a...

"Honestly...one of the best pub restaurants I have ever visited! We chose to eat here as it was recommended via Alistair Sawday, and it did not disappoint. The food, atmosphere, hygiene and service were all 5* when we visited last night. We sat inside, by candlelight, and ordered 2 starters (the Rye smoked mackerel with buttercream sauce and the heritage tomato salad and 2 mains (the beef burger with fries and the hake with toasted ciabatta and garden peas . It was truly exquisite! We both cleaned our plates (and we don't usually do that! . My only mild criticism is that I didn't realise the hake dish would include bacon lardons they certainly added to the flavour, but as an ethical pescatarian, this could have ruined the meal for me (I didn't allow it to, but 10 years ago when I was more strict it may have upset me . I may have simply missed this ingredient when reading the menu, and I didn't make the waiting staff aware of my dietary preferences, so I accept this was my fault and not theirs. It's just something for other pescatarians reading this review to be aware of. I have absolute confidence that they would prepare the hake dish without the bacon lardons if you asked. As for me....my boyfriend gleefully took them from my plate and demolished them himself! We also enjoyed a medium glass of wine each my boyfriend (who is very particular loved the tempranillo and I had their Italian pinot grigio. Our entire meal would have been less than £60, but with the current government incentive scheme to eat in, it came to less than £40!! We tipped generously as they truly deserved it. We will 100% be returning and can't advocate them enough."
