"It's a little unusual to order a Thai takeaway from proper pub and I mean a proper old school pub , the White Hart most in Basingstoke will know it , I like it proper pool tables, sports and darts , great service, but hey ho I'm not bothered by that. It's about this Thai takeaway ? What's going there I'm local too . So gave I try and we ordered several dishes starting with two Thai Tom Yum Gum (hot soups and the two hot Thai dishes one with prawn and one with chicken , plus crispy duck (I thought that was Chinese ! along with sticky rice and Garlic rice. It wasn't cheap £49 but as a special occasion we got home and wow ! This is a superbly secret little find here, it's superb , hot, fresh , brilliant , I have to second guess did I just pick this up from a pub? Make no mistake this is some seriously decently cooked Thai food , everything was excellent and I mean good. Well done guys . Fabulous I'll be back :"

We booked a table which turns out wasn’t necessary as it’s located within a large pub. We were put upstairs which was perfect.

Ordered this meal through 'just eat ' and were not disappointed. Delivered to our hotel room within 10 minutes of allocated time. Had green Thai curry, spring rolls, 'lady in the garden (scallops) and egg fried rice. Just brilliant Thai food...would highly recommend

Shame that when you try and order almost half hour before said/stated close time phone is left ringing. Why state a time then dont comply? If you dont want to take a order at the latter time dont advertise being open to stated time. Shame because the food; although expensive, is lovely!

I ordered delivery from Narong Thai a few weeks ago and really liked it. When my wife came back from Mexico, I took her to this restaurant. Despite it being more of a pub with seating for eating, we have already decided to go back and bring friends next time so we can share the food, as the portions are generous! View menu

A last minute decision to have a take away here proved a good decision. Som tam papaya salad had a nice kick of heat. As did Gang pet yang duck curry. Nice amount of meat in a tasty spicy sauce. Pad thai gai was pleasant and a decent portion. Nothing to complain about here. Well worth a visit. Pub itself is nicely laid out too.

I ordered through Just Eat and the delivery estimate was 45 minutes. 2 hours later and the food eventually arrived. Apparently traffic was bad! I live less than 1 mile from the restaurant and it was 10:30 at night. Don’t order any fried items as they arrive soggy you have to put them in the oven when they arrive. Eating in the “restaurant” is a bad idea... it’s a dodgy pub complete with sticky carpet and pissed up locals. Avoid!

Read the reviews and was going to order in but my “carer” fancied an outing. The pub is a sports pub with multiple TVs and a pool table. We sat in the upstairs area , which is a drab place, and ordered our meals at the bar. The food was okay, the presentation was below okay, so I can understand the better reviews on takeaway. If I fancied Thai again , it would be the Thai Lounge at Ropley. The quality of food and presentation would make the journey worthwhile. View menu

Had a fabulous takeaway ordered on JustEat while visiting some friends in Basingstoke. It was four of us and everyone has had a very enjoyable meal. It was so great, that we have decided to make another trip to Basingstoke to have lunch at Narong Thai. I called ahead to check on the food serving times and I was welcomed with open arms to visit on the following day. Lunch was delicious and the gentleman serving us has done marvellously to make it a very pleasant experience. Thanks for reading and i hope you enjoy the food as much as we did when you go there

I took my Mum here for lunch on Good Friday, just because we thought we'd try somewhere local to her house. There is a car park right outside so it was easy to park. It was a Friday lunch time but fairly quiet so we easily got a seat. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was reasonably priced and the menu was really good. They serve delicious Thai food which I was keen to try, but as it was lunch time and we had only popped in for a snack, I have decided to go back another time to try the Thai menu. The food which was served to people on the next table looked delicious though. Mum had a sandwich and I had a salad it was beautifully presented. The only criticism is that the carpets a...

"Our first visit. We cannot praise thank The Wellie highly enough. What a find! Peacefully rural on a quiet road to the south of Baughurst. A classic, pretty country pub, now converted to an excellent restaurant, with three rooms. What strikes you first is how immaculate The Wellie is, inside and out. The large garden is a delight. Masses of dahlias and all manner of bushes and plants. Birds, birds and more birds. Do check out the vegetable garden beyond the rear car park. You then walk inside to the warmest of relaxed welcomes from the owners, Simon and Jason, and manager, Sheila, and their lovely young helpers. Nothing is too much trouble. The first thing you’ll spot is the array of fruit, veg salad for sale by the pub bar – the Wellie Deli. Along with home made jams, chutneys, quiches, etc. I then spotted the two hand pumps! Longdog Golden Poacher Basingstoke Pride. The seating inside is for diners every session is a sell out! But I was very happy to sup several excellent pints of well kept draught Basingstoke Pride in the garden – until I discovered their Negronis! Truly the best this side of Kwant (Piccadilly). We’d opted for the room in the pub: the Apartment. Two rooms on the first floor, knocked through. Enormous comfy bed, large rainfall shower, sofa, mini bar – two TVs! Free milk homemade shortbread. One of the discoveries we made here is the fabulous tea they serve from Prince Sons. As you can tell by now, we were very happy with our first stay at The Wellie… and then we went down for dinner! A truly exceptional menu from Jason’s kitchen, which changes each evening. Highlights were the scallops wrapped in pancetta, the pollack, the lamb pot pie, the twice baked cheese souffle, the NY cheesecake, the rhubarb ice cream, the treacle tart... All so fresh, tasty, and mainly from their garden. What we loved most was it was relaxed but fine dining without the tiny portions. The Full English breakfast the next morning was equally tasty. All in all, we did not want to go home! Thank you Simon, Jason Sheila. We will be back, soon."
