"We greatly enjoyed the food here. The combination of flavours was interesting and stimulating. The staff were lovely and concerned that we should enjoy our dinner. However, it was a cold evening and the curtain around the door did little to keep the cold at bay. My partner sat with her back to the wall so didn't feel the cold. I had my back to the curtain around the front door and just got progressively, insidiously colder as the dinner went on the dining space downstairs is very small indeed, but that's just a function of where the restaurant is, and there is, as I later discovered, an upstairs dining room. I think Oldroyd's needs a warm air air curtain to cut the cold draft that comes in, or perhaps to reconfigure the seating arrangements. I'm sympathetic to the needs of restaurateurs to maximise the number of covers, but you may need to strike a different balance here. I would gladly return on a warmer evening or if I could be seated upstairs. Winter is coming, after all"

The new restaurant from the former Polpo/Polpetto head honcho!!! It reminds me of Polpetto but with a little bit of French touch.

An absolutely delightful lunch. Simple, beautiful and elegant healthy Monday lunch. Old Roys is the best for such a civilised affair

Sweetbreads were close to classic - seared to have a slight crisp, still tender on the inside, with a little citrus or vinegar in the sauce to lighten the

Food was delicious crisply fried artichoke with aïoli, porchetta, roasted beetroot all beautifully prepared. Intimate ambience. I think some upgrading of the loo wouldn't go amiss, but that's my only criticism

Addicted to Oldroyd it's different but not so much as to be faddy, just amazing flavours with fresh ingredients. Every dish is put together there and then which makes it really easy to cater for vegan friends especially with so many dishes being all about the vegetables

A very small, cosy restaurant that was the perfect place for five friends to spend the evening. The wine on special was perfectly fullbodied, all of the food was delicious braised oxtail croquettes, anchovy butter, wild mushroom tagliatelle, feta mousse.... The service was very attentive. Overall the evening was lovely, and we will definitely be back

Oldroyd is the sort of restaurant everyone, in a perfect world, would have nearby. Imaginative food, friendly staff and a small but good wine list. I've tended to go on meatless Mondays but a midweek trip found quite a few vegetarian favourites reprised the wondrous grilled aubergine with a garlicky sauce and pickled shallots, and a splendid nutty topping for a halved head of chicory, for example. This time we added a monkfish and shrimp dish and a sliced of pork loin. All lovingly done. And to deduct the price of a bottle of wine for a minor messup with the booking shows pretty classy customer service. If you've not been, give it a try, and a pocketsize delight

I wouldn’t have found this little gem had it not for the OpenTable. I was looking for a casual yet value for money place with original and healthy food near Angel area to meet an old friend. I was really pleased that I found this place. The lunch menu for consists of four different dishes to choose from all of which sounds healthy and interesting. My friend and I chose poached sardine fillets of buttered cale, spinach and ricotta malfatti and sourdough bread with anchovie butter as a side which were all delicious. A bottle of French white was reasonable and went well with food. This is a tiny cafe restaurant and wooden tables and chairs are not so comfortable and not suitable for a big group...
