"Olivia Rose is my local coffee shop. There is always a warm welcome, and it's dog friendly too. The coffee and cakes are delicious, but a special mention has to be given to the hot chocolate, it is the best I have ever had ! Lucy, and her little canine assistant are lovely. On top of all this loveliness, Olivia Rose also has a wonderful selection of gifts and local crafts. If you're in Pickering pop in, you won't be disappointed."

It was great to discover a coffee shop that is so dog-friendly. We enjoyed some coffee and scones, which were reasonably priced. The shop also has a fantastic variety of unique gifts. We are planning to move to Pickering soon and can already see this becoming a regular stop for us. View menu

This is one of the best dog friendly cafes to visit. The staff are so welcoming, your dog even gets his own little pot of treats. We called in on the war weekend Sunday it became quite busy.We had a pot of tea, a cappuccino, a stilton walnut scone a fruit scone, everything was excellent. Will definitely call in when we are in Pickering again.

"The problem began with our arrival. We are 3 adults in our mid-60s and we had already climbed one set of steps to access the bar in the pub. We were escorted to our room up two more flights of narrow stairs. On entering our room, we could smell the damp in the room and discovered mould on walls behind furniture and in the corners of the window frames. We checked the prices of the evening meals on offer and there wasn't enough variety for our party and they were quite expensive. So we decided to eat out. I asked what time the pub closed and was told, when the last customer leaves. I thought that was a bit vague so I said that we would be back at 10-ish. We arrived back just after 10pm to find all entrances to the pub were fully locked up and we were unable to get in. I called the pub and, after a while, my call went to voicemail with a message that there was no one to answer my call. I left a voicemail, this was followed by another message to say that there was no one to respond to my voicemail! My party had got back into the car as it was raining and I drove to the front of the pub and sounded my horn for some time then drove to the back of the pub. At this point, a man appeared saying he had a message to come and let us in so, finally, we got in to the pub to access our room. We had an uncomfortable night but managed to get up for the early breakfast (great breakfast! and check-out. We raised all the damp and mould issues with the man who had let us in and, as one of us was asthmatic, told him that we would be leaving a poor review of the room and that they shouldn't book that room out to any one else until the issues were resolved."
